Not trying to start anything, but where do the Leafs stand. Did they take a step back? |

TOR could have had Hunter run the 2018 draft but didn’t want someone who had expressed a desire to leave the organization doing it. So they agreed to part ways now, albeit with a condition on when he could begin working for another NHL team. |

There are so many Leaf fans overreacting in other message boards. I'm struggling with how I'm _supposed_ to feel!
Frankly, Hunter is the guy at the top of a scouting organization that he structured. The scouting organization may have been his, but the organization will continue to exist. The organization they have setup should tend itself as long as good people are appointed to continue the good work they've started.
Hunter has yet to prove his mettle as a GM, either. So whether it was Dubas or Hunter, you were getting someone with no NHL experience. I've had no complaints with Shanahan, so I'd be inclined to trust his judgement.
One thing to note: JFJ was a very good scout. He was a terrible GM. I do think Hunter has more pedigree and acumen than JFJ ever had, so I think he'll have a better chance of success.
For him to leave now with no GM jobs notably available means he's either angry and moving lateral, or that there is some form of poaching going on.

They did imo.
Hunter was the head scout, his skills and talents will be missed.
Knew this would happen but it will be a set back for the leafs...as we inch closer to the cap, scouting will become even more important.
A key off season and the leafa lose their hwad scout and let lou walk to the team the leafs were hoping to poach their superstar from. (Not that believed he was coming here anyway)
Lets see what the geek dubas can do. |

From everything I read, he was upset; My guess, he goes back to the London Knights for a year
