Meh, it was bad all around. But the liberties awarded the Caps was ridiculous. Basically Ovi allowed to unleash cross checks, elbows, slashes you name it with impunity all game long. NHL really needs to start penalizing officiating teams. This idea that because it's the "playoffs" the rules should just be thrown out the window is ruining the game.
I mean it's pretty much the primary reason the President's trophy team never seems to make it past the first 2 rounds. The rules get changed, and that changes the way teams play or have to play. Nashville yet another victim of the rules being ignored. Jets played a heavy hitting game and Nashville couldn't cope with it.
Heavy hitting teams/games are fine, but when guys are allowed to continually take runs at their opponents with no consequences, the game just turns into a hitting war of attrition. So heavy hits turn into heavier hits, cross checks and checks from behind or blindsides.
The league is sooooo worried about head hits, yet allowing nothing but punishing and widely illegal hits throughout the post season.
