Morin is a big disappointment for me. Might be time for the Flyers to shop him around and see what the value is, or put him in a package deal. |

Why is he a big disappointment? Frankly, to trade him now makes zero sense.
First of all, to invest so much in him only to get impatient and dump him off at age 22 -- when he actually HAD been progressing -- is what the organizations that repeatedly fail to develop homegrown players do. They end up developing young players for other organizations, who eventually end up reaping the benefits while all the original organization got was the growing pains.
That's especially true when the trigger-pull is reactive to an injury. Prime example: Dennis Seidenberg had a major leg injury that hastened his departure via trade while still a young player in the Flyers organization. He's only gone on to play 12 more seasons in the NHL as a regular.
Secondly, when the Flyers drafted Morin, it was with full knowledge that he was a long-term process with him. That was why he was twice returned to the Q despite solid NHL preseasons, and then spent two full years with the Phantoms. He ran into a numbers game at camp this year.
Huge-framed D-men tend to blossom a bit later as pros. He progressed at a slow-but-steady pace his first two years with the Phantoms. This year was the first time where injuries have been a significant factor (not counting a broken jaw in junior hockey), and it was likely all interrelated with a core muscle issue, which can easily ruin a season. Otherwise, he almost definitely would have seen more time in the NHL this season.
The knee injury in Game 4 of the Charlotte series was an awful break for Morin, but could have happened to any player. Shayne Gostisbehere's injury in his rookie AHL year was also just one of those things that happen in hockey. Ghost had no ill-effects the next year. |

Thank you, Bill. We have a lot of team negative still on this board. And I agree with you 100%. Developing him here at home then shipping him off to another organization is reminiscent of the homer days. Hexy won't do anything like that and I'm happy Hexy is in charge now.

Yep, let another team benefit from when he gets healthy and becomes a solid NHL defenseman. Good idea. |

To trade Morin now would be foolish. Atlanta made that mistake with Coburn in 2008. |

I wonder if the organization views Lyon as a viable NHL goalie or Neil Little. Little doubt in my mind Myers is a legit top 4 dman prospect. What a playoff run for him. |

yeah Morin, geez...
Bill should the Flyers shop Lyon? if he continues he could be a real nice piece in a trade to fetch somehting the Flyers need. I get maybe he could be the one but I doubt it. |

I'd hold onto him after all the goalie issues this year. |

You have to hang onto Morin at this point and hope he puts it all together. They've invested so much time into him.
I mean sure, if someone blows you away with an offer then you have to consider it but I don't see that happening right now. |

Lyon did not look like an nhl goalie in his time up. Maybe he’s reached a new level? |

I don't know if he's playing above his standard or if he's legit gotten better. To me, it's clear the time with the Flyers has helped his confidence. It would be great to see him develop into an NHL goalie, even if it's a backup/journeyman starter. |

I can’t see moving Morin...I really think he’s on the cusp of paying dividends. From Bill’s comment I really hope it’s not the dreaded ACL. I can honestly say he’s one of the prospects that could form the nucleus going forward....Morin has attributes that no other prospects the Flyers have seem to bring to the table. Disappointment wouldn’t begin to express my thoughts if they moved him now. |

He’s definitely stepped up in the playoffs for Lehigh....94 saves on 95 shots is amazing at any pro level.

While we are at it they should also trade Myers, Friedman, Sanheim, Lindblom, Voroyebev, Lyon and De Haas since they couldn’t make it on the flyers. I mean they are a playoff bubble team and they couldn’t beat out the poop players on the bottom half of the roster. Clearly they are busts.

what's the record for ice time logged in the AHL, did myers get close? - -davies-
I think someone mentioned it’s not a stat that’s routinely tracked. |

I do think Lyon will be resigned and start the year in LV with Hart. I think Stollie is the odd man out. I hope Hexy does something other then bring back the Elliott/Neuvy tandem. I would rather see Hexy fill in the bottom six with Phantoms then go the UFA route again. I just don't see value in the UFA market for a 3rd line center. Trade market sure, but no more Weise or Gordon signings please.

If Morin's injury is long term and recovery takes him well into the season, what is his status? I assume he goes on IR, but do the Flyers get a waiver exemption to send him to the AHL in order to rehab? |

I thought the same thing. His first couple of appearances were bad, but he had some good showings in relief and I thought he got better the longer he was around.
I would love to know how the organization views Lyon's current work in LHV. If he doesn't merit a backup gig for the Flyers, he almost has to be viewed as the first call up in the event of injury. |

If he keeps playing well in the AHL playoffs, I’d rather have him over Neuvirth. At least Lyon doesn’t get injured getting out of bed. |

I don’t see anyone on the phantoms that will be able to handle a 3C role at all next year. I think they have to dip into UFA. They’re going to overpay for one. That’s just how it works in UFA. Voroybyov could be the 3C down the line but next year might be rushing his timetable. They need to at least have a veteran option |
