So... what do you think about trading Dougie Hamilton?

Well it's not bad if you trade him to the Oilers

I don't think that anyone in the Flames organization thinks it is a good idea...c'mon. You don't have Chia or Bergevin for a GM, so he's not being traded, unless it's for something stupid good, like the return you get from a Chia or Bergevin trade.

You already posted this blog.

Everyone knows he's a good offensive defenseman. That's why his name comes up in the media. Since you write for a website that deals with rumours, you should know that the media grasps for anything to write about and it usually amounts to nothing.

I don't really get your point of saying all the other RHD are untouchable. A lot of the names on your list have been traded before and the best one on the list is supposedly getting traded this year.

Besides making three new tables and including several points/stats I didn't use in the last one, yeah I agree.

If it's a Kings ransom, any GM would have to think about it. If by some stroke of fate Arizona decided they can't resign OEL & they offer him & the #5 pick, well if I were Treliving, I think I would do it hoping Peters can do his thing with the young blue chip young D banging at the door to make the pros the he did in Carolina.

Or if Leafs were willing to cough up Marner, their 2018 1st & Gardiner, I would think about that one too lol. Not holding my breath on either of these deals.
Moral of this, it would have to be a complete over pay kings ransom. But considering what Sakic got for Duchesne, well...goes to show anything can & will happen in the NHL.

Instead of writing a redundant blog, why not write about something relevant, like how well Flames prospects are doing in the WHL playoffs?

Or if you really want to write about Hamiltion, why not look at from the opposite side and find a way why it would make sense to trade Hamilton?

Well I do work for a WHL team (Saskatoon) so I rarely comment on players from other teams for obvious reasons.

I have not seen any games so I can't really add anything of value beyond basic stats. Also, it's not at all uncommon for an overager like Glenn Gawdin, for example, to be producing at better than a point per game clip in the playoffs.

Yeah, he's going to be awesome.

If I came off as an ass at all in comments above, that was definitely not the intention. I know it comes with the territory but it kind of sucks to spend several hours researching and writing up a blog, then immediately reading I should have done a post on something else lol

Todd did you take over for Bruce in Saskatoon when he joined Toronto? Or were you working with him before that?

Had no idea you were working with them. Cool.

One thing I would say about Gawdin is that his production is significantly less impressive than his work ethic. He does his best work in the neutral zone and along the boards.

I don't think Gawdin will ever be an impact forward at the NHL level, but I can see him settling in as a solid depth role player for a few years.

They need to get rid of Gio now before he renders nothing in return. His heart is gone, need a new leader and get some new blood on the back end. That said, id be trying for a top 4-6 pick for Gio and maybe a later pick or prospect. Id really like to have the chuck brothers in Calgary for the next 10-15 years.

You're probably not getting a top 5 pick for a 35 year old, 40 point defenseman.

Especially one who is locked up for 4 more years at almost $7 million and has an NTC.

It's the internet, you need to filter whose opinions are dumpster fodder and whose aren't.

As for Hamilton, there's an underlying vibe that his personality doesn't click. Seems strange that Boston basically defended trading him by referencing his demeanor, then we had to keep his AHL brother around for him to hang out with.

if you write a blog without even considering the return it's silly, just another excuse to throw a fancy stats chart up

So...don't write a blog until you know what's coming back the other way?

the Flames have a lot of defensemen and he'd generate a nice return

you could have written a blog two years ago around this time that said "Devils shouldn't trade Adam Larsson"

Fine. You want him to post a blog and say they shouldn’t trade him unless they rape another team? Thanks captain obvious.

lol Marner, Gardiner and a 1st really? Toronto wouldn’t trade Marner 1 for 1 for Hamilton. Nylander maybe though.

Too bad Dougie would be an amazing partner for Rielly.
