Hi Bill, isn't Hamilton up 2-1 on SSM? Thought they won game 1 on road and game 3 @home. |

The Phantoms should live or die with Lyon from here on out. |

Agreed. If he keeps playing this well, they should do whatever it takes to move Neuvirth and let Lyon pair with Elliott next season. Even if they retain half of Neuvirth's final year, the combined cap hit of his 1.25 in dead space and whatever Lyon ends up making will probably be less than Neuvirth's full 2.5 million hit.
I think, at a cost of only 1.25 million for one year, you will find someone to take Neuvirth off your hands, even if the return is only "future considerations" |

2) QMJHL Finals: German Rubtsov scored a power play deflection goal and took first-star honors as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan earned a 5-2 home win in Game 3 of their Quebec Major Junior Hockey League final series against the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada.

Bill,
Aside from Sanheim, Lyon, Lindblom, and Morin, is there anybody on the Phantoms that you think can realistically compete for an opening-night spot on the roster assuming there are no major shake-ups? |

I agree. I am not comfortable in any way with Michael Neuvirth on the team next year. Ideally, I'd like a more proven #1, but if we're sticking with Elliott, I'd be fine with Lyon as the NHL backup. |

Vecchione and Aube-Kubel have at least outside shots. Myers and Vorobyev will get a look but probably sent back for additional seasoning. Bardreau is a dark horse, as is veteran Corban Knight. |

No, they aren't going to say anything beyond him being out for this series. Circumstantially, I think he might have the same thing Couturier does (torn MCL, 4-to-6 week recovery period) but I don't know it for a fact. |

Yeah, I was thinking Vecchione as he's the most finished product and probably at least a competent 4C. NAK could probably take Weal's spot if nothing else. I think the D would need at least 2 injuries to start the season for Myers to make the lineup, although I hope I'm proven wrong. |

It really is a shame about neuvy. I've always liked him and thib k he can steal a game any given might but he can't stay healthy.
I'm very glad to see Lyon playing like this after being sent down. He knows what he needs to do to get back here and he looks like he gets it.
That's the thing with these goalies.... you just never know what they will do. Dubnyk was damn near ran out of this league he played so badly then he is the next messiah for Minnesota and got a huge payday.
Maybe Lyon will coke back and impress us? That can be another good story for the flyers if so |

He's undersized, and only an average skater at the NHL level. He's skilled, but not skilled enough to overcome the other deficiencies in his game. I don't think he'll ever be an NHL regular.

When it comes to pure skill at playing goal, Neuvy is the best of the guys they have at the pro level, but you just can't count on him to stay healthy. Hopefully Lyon continues to play well for the Phantoms and he can be that 1b guy who can start 28-33 games while Elliott starts 49-54 and Hart gets the benefit of a full year in the AHL. Also Lyon will turn 26 in December so it's not like he's some young, immature kid. |

Martel is very small, but he's a plus skater at any level. |
