Rod May well be loved by the Hurricanes, but there is usually very little to like about a team trying to bring back an ex player as a coach. We've seen it fail time and again. |

Rod is the greatest leader in the history of this franchise...
-Waddell
I suppose, if he wants to exclude recently fired Ronnie Franchise, all-time leader in multiple categories, 2002 King Clancy winner, and captain of the Hurricanes and Whalers for multiple years. |

Hard to argue it hasn't worked flawlessly for the Oilers.
They wouldn't have gotten so many first overall picks if they didn't rely on former players in their coaching & management teams. |

Yeah and hiring some outsiders in Nicholson, Chia and McLellan has really fixed things... |

Colorado was disaster with Patrick and Joe. The clowns in Vancouver, I forget their names, so the franchise back a few years. Pat LaFontaine and buffalo? I mean really, these teams trying to bring back a flash of the Glory Days by installing a good player in a coaching/ management/GM position has just traditionally been a poor idea |

I think Ryan O'Reilly would be a nice addition to your team to help Brind'Amour and the younger players. If you guys want, we'll trade him along with Reinhart for your first round (2nd overall) pick this year. |

Another former player that's gonna end up being deemed useless and forgotten by the franchise. |

Good luck top the Canes and Rod. At least this hire should get the season ticket sale started off with a bang. |

It will do exactly the opposite.
Rod's been an assistant coach with the club for 7 (frank)ing years. |

Because these are all internal hires. Rod's been the forwards and PP coach now for 7 years... the Hurricanes have consistently had a terrible powerplay. Don Waddell doesn't exactly have a great track record.... |
