On paper, this series is a close to even as it can get. Preds fans are both excited and nervous for this series. It should be an awesome display of physicality, goaltending, offensive skill & great defensive play. Most of the games this season were high-scoring affairs that were tightly played. The Jets have the better high-end offensive skill. The Predators have better forward depth. The Preds have better overall D, but big Buff can provide plenty of scoring punch for the Jets from the blueline. Goaltending is basically even. It's just set up to be a tremendous series.
I don't know if you can draw much in the way of comparisons from the first round series & how each team fared. The Wild are a deeper team than the Avs. But the Wild were missing their two best players. The Avs had injury issues, but their two best players were still on the ice. The Preds did lose one more game, but they badly outplayed the Avs in that game & Hammond just stood on his head to steal a win.
I think this series goes a minimum of six games. I think you could make a good argument for either team winning in 6 or 7 games, depending on which way a few key factors go. |

Nashville in 6..
Winnipeg in 7..
Should be a fantastically, punishingly entertaining series
I loved/hated watching Preds/Blues vs Hawks games...just highly entertaining and stressful to my blood pressure.
I do believe Nashville is the more rounded team plus the experience they possess cannot be discounted.
But Winnipeg's speed has to be respected.
I am highly looking forward to this series, hell I may even not sell my games
Good luck to both teams |

This is easily the premier series this year in the NHL - at least for the first 2 rounds
The Preds, unlike the Wild, will pounce and score on every breakdown the Jets offer up ... if ever there is a team we have to play the full 60 against - it's this one
A Thursday or Friday start would bode well for us to give the boys a chance to attend to the 'bumps & bruises'
Smashville v the White Out ... let's go ! |

Jets need to establish a net front presence early, they did not do this very well last series. They also need to be hard on the boards in the d-zone and make clean exit passes, as this is where Nashville pressures the hardest.
Gonna be a great series, I expect 2-3 OT games! We gotta find a way to win those.

This is the series I've been waiting to see. This really should be the conference finals because these are the two best teams in the West, likely the entire NHL.

Get ready for Hartnell and Subban to both earn their money!
Jets need the discipline that San Jose showed against Ducks as Preds will push after every whistle. We don’t have an answer physically (stop with Buff we need him on the ice) so skate away from the crap.
Watson, Hartman etc they will be going after us like crazy.
Have a chance but will be dependant on skating away. |

Jets do have physicality answer for as needed. The heavy teams of the west are not what they used to be (St Louis, Anaheim, LA etc) and the game has moved on. Jets have good size. I don't think it's the physicality or even the speed that will make the difference in this series, it will come down to shooting% and save %. |

I like to view the Connor snub as further motivation. We don't need anyone else's respect and we can enter round 2 as "underdogs". It works with this team's identity and really the city/fanbase in general. Us against the world and I wouldn't want it any other way! |

Jets are the Kings/Ducks of the west with more scoring talent. But they are a big physical team in their own right they are at or near top 10 in hits per team this season.
Jets being physical could wear down the Preds, who have played a lot of hockey last 2-3 years

Yes they are big and physical but it's the combo of size and team speed that makes them difficult to play.
Right now it's the Jets who are looking worn with multiple injuries around the linup. |

Wow, the Maple buds win game 6 and back to Boston for game 7. I didn't think this series would go 7 but they pushed it for game 7. |

Ok, this is a crazy idea, so bear with me for just a second. What if....and I know this is crazy....but what if the anti-Winnipeg bias is all in your heads, and due to a particularly strong rookie class, there truly are five candidates more deserving of the Calder than Connor?

I am not sure anyone is advocating that Connor should have been awarded the Calder, I think ppl somehow thought he should be recognized as one of the three. Personally, I really don't care. If Boeser remained healthy, he would have and should won the Calder, but who cares?
Anti Winnipeg conspiracy, well, who cares on that as well. Anyone devoting time to think Gary Bettman or anyone else has an anti Wpg agenda for TV ratings , Calder Cup or anything else one could dream up should book an apt with their favourite psychologist.
Even your posting trying to stir the pot should be ignored. Who cares? Connor doesn't care. Its all media hyping this crap about Connor getting screwed out being recognized as one of three finalist, etc. Just complete nonsense that continues to get worked over by media because they have nothing else to write about and need to sell papers etc. Who cares. |
