I keep picking MacKenzie as my surprise player, hope he gets a shot with Utica.
He is a much needed centre depth for this organization.

Thx Carol.

Surprise! He's not gonna make it any farther then the draft.

Ya, they may have already made up their mind on him.
I just feel that because we have next to nothing for young centre depth, other than Cassels, that he may be worth a contract.

Cassels shouldn't be extended and Mackenzie shouldn't be signed in my opinion.

Canucks have lots of C at that skill level on the farm . Oldest Comet center is 26 and 24

Cassels will get signed. Megna and Chaput won’t. Maybe one not both.

I'd prefer to sign Chaput over Cassels. Chaput is a solid vet for Utica and Cassels has no future with the Canucks.

Could be. I do think Cassels can become a great shutdown centre in the NHL.

Those guys we know what level they will be at, career ahl players, MacKenzie, at 21 has some upside at least. IMO.

Cassels was their most productive center behind Chaput I expect both to get new contracts. Hamilton got high praises even though he had lower numbers . MacEwen is signed so one or two more centers

The kid can't skate. Full stop. I make fun of Gaunce all the time but he put up nearly a ppg pace when he was Cassels age in the AHL. Cassels is a poor mans Bredan Gaunce.

I think McKenzie would also be a career AHL player but who knows. He might be better than Laplante or Molino

So? The Comets have brutal centers. Benning needs to find a productive 25 year old playmaking center for the Comets to play with all his prospect wingers. Not resign fringe players because they are the best we currently have.

Cassels is a good AHL player same as Gaunce and Boucher . They all should be in the AHL unless you love bottom 10 finishes in the NHL

Chaput had 17 G and 42 pts in 55 games . Love him or hate him he is a safety net for Canucks/ Comets

You need depth. Especially considering we are the most injured team year in and year out.

Yeah. I am not a fan of Chaput as a Canuck but he can step in for a few games and keep the flow. He is a good AHLer

Not a fan either, but respect the fact that he can at least keep up with the speed and provides a bit of physicality as a callup level player.

Exactly

Canucks are in a situation though when a forward went down they would call up Boucher or Goldobin and move Granlund to center so Chaput was the third call up .
