Peter Tessier: Jets win 4-1, some numbers and thoughts on the massacre Taking a look at how the Jets are beating the Wild and can the Minnesota team do anything about it?

That's the question Bruce Boudreau must solve right now and nothing his thugs (wannabe Winnik) did in the final minute to end the game will have any effect on game three.

Thugs? LOL. I think we both know who the real thugs are in this series! You had to figure the Wild players were going to get sick of the onslaught of hits at some point. I don't think they were sending a message, just tired of Byfugginugly running them every chance he got.

Heavy hits are fun and obviously part of the game, but when guys like Byf are seeking guys to line up and take a run at, things get dangerous for the guys he's unloading on. Yeah, it's great for Jets fans that he gets to run around and blow guys up because the Wild really have nobody that can retaliate. At least nobody with any size. So yeah, opposing teams fans don't share in the excitement of those bruising hits.

Whatever, you are right, the better team is winning, but is it really safe to assume this series is over?

As someone who watched both games. I'd have to say ya it is. I don't have stock in either team either. I just don't think that Minnesota has what it takes to keep up with Winnipeg for 7 games. Missing Suter is hurting the Wild.

Minny won’t have to worry about keeping up for 7 games.

I can appreciate that response, but every fan knows anything can happen. Wild coming home could get them hot.

The problem here is that even at their hottest, they need Winnipeg to make mistakes and they just aren't.

But, thats why we play the games.

If Buff hadn't let up on Koivu they would have been scraping him off the roof of the Nutty Club.

Buff Smythe is just heating up.

Winnipeg is the most exciting team in the league. Good for the fine folks of Winnipeg after getting screwed over by Bettman with the original Jets, this fanbase deserves it.

The Jets sure are fun to watch, but the same could be said about fans in Minnesota in regard to losing their original team...

Are you saying that they are dirty hits by Winnipeg, or that there are just too many of them?

Seriously. You already admit the Wild have nobody that can retaliate? No kidding. This is the playoffs man , and your soft team wasn't built to take on a tough team. Cry me a river. I can appreciate you or Wild fans don't enjoy getting man-slaughtered but I have no sympathy for a team that wasn't built to play a big boy's game. Press has been quick to blame the one-sided loses on Suter's injury but lets be realistic here. Suter would not made one iota of difference in the final result. The Wild were completely manhandled in both games in every facet of the game and out-coached as well. Anything can happen and the Wild could survive on some luck over at home but the writing is on the wall. If it wasn't the Jets it would have been Nashville or San Jose or LAK etc. Its clearly time for a rebuild in Minnesota.

Buff was barely putting anything into those hits. It’s his sheer size that sends guys flying. None were dirty either. The Wild look like theyve already given up. At home will be better sure, but the skill difference in the 2 rosters is enormous.

Minny looked like an Ahl team in game 2. The 4-1 score is not representative of how much better Winnipeg was. It could have been 8-1.

The first ten minutes will produce a Wild onslaught...

If the jets can withstand that and be even at the end of one...it will all depend on that first goal...Winnipeg scores and the series ends in 4 or 5...the Wild score and we may have a series.

And to those that think having Suter wouldn't make a difference...I think it would elevate their play...but not enough to win...just enough to make a real series out of it.
