I think whomever signs him should have to give up their 1st round draft pick for next season to the NJ Devils.

that poop's over, if he wants to come back and someone wants to sign him then I don't see any issue. Devil's are probably glad that they aren't saddled with that contract, of which the terms were Lou's fault, not Kovalchuk's

Right, I'm Kovalchuk said, "can we make it for fewer years and less money per year?"

Come one man, were you the one to get hit by Kadri last night?

Yes it's over, but why should it be?! Why should he be able to just walk away in (frank) you like fashion to the Devils and the NHL alike and then be allowed to just stroll back in once his contract obligations are null and void and play wherever he wants with absolutely no consequences whatsoever?

I think it's first class bullpoop.

No one forced Kovalchuck to sign that deal. Of course Lou deserves a lot of the blame, but to say Kovy has none is not being reasonable.

Personally I think walking on a contract like he did should result in a league wide ban. Though it must be said that he probably did the Devils a solid by ditching.

Agreed on both points. Especially on the ban. Or what I like better is whatever team signs him has to give up their first round pick for 3 years, or however many years were left in his contract when he walked out on jersey
