Here is a hot tip for Barrie Trotz: don't play Tom Wilson more than Alex Ovechkin at 5v5.
That actually happened? |

One reason I'm not a fan of starting the back-up goalie over Holtby is that if you lose game one, where do you go from there?
Well since youre implying Holtby is the better option then it would make sense to go with Holtby no? Are you blaming the loss on Grubauer?? You would actually change goalies after a game 1 OT loss???

I don't blame the goalie at all. I blame the coach for starting the wrong goalie. And yes, I'd make the change because you are sitting a guy on pace for a Hall of Fame career in favor of a guy who had one good month. I don't like it. |

If the great "future HOF" who has never won anything was really the man he wouldn't have been the backup last night as well as the past month. Plus making the goalie change that you suggest would be viewed as a panic move after one game. I personally would love to see it happen though.

Wilson ( who played a whopping 7 seconds more ) had matching 5v5 because Ovie ended up playing 25 mins ( is probably too much ) and Wilson only played 18 mins total. Not sure why you'd ignore that part before complaining about another NHL coach....by the way the coach looks more like the guy form Battle Star Galatica...if you're old enough to remember that show.

Orlov CF39%
but no mention of Orpik at 61%, it doesn't look like Orlov was 1 of their 3 #1 D's last game. |

If not ignoring that part at all, it just happens to be irrelevant.
If you have a superstar player, you need to play him at 5v5 where you get the most bang for your buck.
If you give two minutes extra at 5v5 to Ovechkin, and you take two minutes away from Ovechkin on the Power Play, the Washington Capitals are a better team.
For a coach in 2018 in the NHL to not know this/care about this is very bad. |

Tanner at no point blamed the goalie. He blamed the coach for creating this problem. Since the Caps lost w/ the back up goalie in , now the question is whether or not it was the right move, and should Holtby be put back in net. Obviously, it wasn't Grubaur's fault, but none the less, a goalie controversy has been created.
WOW....I just agreed w/ Tanner |

Its not about where Ovechkin gets more points its that Ovechkin will score a larger margin or points vs a replacement player 5v5 than he will vs the same player on the PP. |

You should probably see someone about that.
If it wasn't Grubaurs fault, why would there be controversy. |

Because that's what the media does....it makes something out of nothing.....................Kinda like the Russian Collusion w/ Trump....nothing happened, and if it did, which it didn't, it's not even illegal in the first place, buuuuuuuuutttt the Media needs something to do b/c god forbid they report on some of the things that Trump has done that actually has helped Americans..
Fodder for Tanner? |
