Just saw the Devils are trolling us on their Jumbotron, down 2-0 and still obsessed

6 years of playoff hockey without them and I don’t remember the Rangers giving one poop about them

two dreaded words growing up "TAPE DELAY"
- jimbo83

I recall those two dreaded words in "TAPE DELAY" very well from my early youth during those days when some Rangers road games on local N.Y., WOR TV were delayed in airing anywhere for up to some hours of their actual starting time.
I also recall that word "TAPE" being used in part for at least a 1/4 century beginning in the mid or late 1970's by local sports news anchor then in Warner Wolf. His sports report words on both local ABC, and later CBS local newscasts here, in leading to showing every event's highlights, were each preceded by his infamous words in stating, "LET'S GO TO THE VIDEOTAPE".
At the end of his sports news, Warner would then also tease another anchor (or more in combo) on the news cast, (like CBS meteorologist, "Mr. G.", for one), through means of showing a view of some strange, or funny looking in appearance fan at the event. Simultaneously, he would connect the two parties jokingly with his infamous ending words in relation to each other, (as per the "Mr. G." example), in saying, "AND Mr. GEEEE WAS AT THE GAME TONIGHT".

Is Randy Carlyle ousted if his Ducks lose their series to the Sharks, & especially in 4 straight games? I would take a big pass on him if I were Gorton, and rather opt for a top college, "no nonsense" coach instead, as I would do anyway right now based on those NHL experienced ones available now, or who perceived might be soon.
You simply can't lose by an 8-1 score in a playoff game when out shooting the opposition 46 to 36 in S.O.G.! Too many physical and mental defensive lapses, plus poor sub par goal tending dictate the result. But was there also some quitting on the coach with their effort in not playing well both ways, as well as their goalies poor play?
Meanwhile, the two hottest goalies in Round 1's first 3 games are none other than Jones of the Sharks (GAA 1.00), and even greater so by the more closer & toughness of the games, Fleury (GAA 0.84) of the Golden Knights. Both also have the same unheard of .970 Save %, in each allowing only 3 total goals against, with Jones facing 101 S.O.G., and Fleury 99 in total in their combined 3 games played.

Tampa will figure out a way to get past the Devils, but I don't think they look like a great team by any means.

don't count that extra first rounder next year just yet

the tape delay thing definitely reminds me of the playoff series vs the Flyers in '85, '86 and '87

WOR-9 would always put April Mets baseball over Rangers playoff hockey and I can remember desperately wishing Kiner's Korner would end so they could put the damn Ranger game on.

can we put to bed the theory that Miller and Namestiknov was an even swap?

Tampa insisted it be done so that the Rangers could get their hands on Hajek

from Larry Brooks today:

Jeff Gorton knew at the deadline that Vigneault might not be back next season. Yet that didn’t stop him from listening on Miller, for whom, we’re told, the Blueshirts received several legit offers. The Lightning had been interested in him since 2014, when his name came up during the talks that led to the Ryan Callahan-Marty St. Louis exchange.

When the Lightning joined the McDonagh Derby, the Rangers homed in on Libor Hajek, the 20-year-old defenseman whom Tampa Bay had selected 37th overall in 2016. General manager Steve Yzerman refused to part with him until Miller became part of an expanded conversation in which Vladislav Namestnikov was then added to the mix.

maybe so, but 9479 still said "trade Stepphan" 5 f'n years ago - which means he's still the winner!

bottom line

I am not judging this trade for the 20 freaking post deadline games Namestiknov played

I could care less about how he produced in those games

I judge this trade on the careers of Howden and Hajek

But didn't someone say here that the deal was Miller for Namestnikov after Yzerman already agreed to the deal?

yea pretty sure that nyrangers2479 has been harping on that

I never bought it, it was always the 8 pieces or whatever needed and Nam and Miller were just 2 parts of the total deal

I know that's been some of the talk here but it never made sense

everybody in the world knows Miller is better than Namsestiknov, and the only thing that made sense was that Hajek was the sticking point and the Rangers agreed to the Miller part of the trade to finally get them to relent on Hajek.

This trade will ultimately be judged on what he becomes more than anything else

Most likely. So Stinky was the throw in and probably won't be back?

he's a RFA, he'll be back unless traded

or there is the odd chance that it turns into Zherdev where he goes to arbitration, Rangers dont like award and they walk away, I guess that's possible

How many playoff goals does Miller have in 40+ games?

Me thinks it's like ONE
