Not holding my breath on winning the lottery. And no, one most definitely does not have to hit. Look at his top-10 track record, except for the no-brainer #1 pick.

- Reinhart - #4 overall - Not ever going to be an NHL player
- Strome - #5 overall - middle-6 center with no real identity
- Nino - #5 overall - Good two-way player that Snow mismanaged so poorly that he demanded a trade
- Dal Colle - #5 overall - struggling in the AHL and has been healthy scratched at various points this season

The only top-5 selection he managed to hit on was Niederreiter and then they managed to completely wreck his development anyway.

He's done some good stuff at the draft, I'll give credit where credit is due. But he's not "good" at drafting by any means, despite what some delusional Isles fans would tell you.

It absolutely doesn’t. I know plenty of ambitious people that turned Down promotions because it meant relocating to poopholes...and they were right to do it. Life is too short to live where you’ll be unhappy.

Yeah he did that two or three times with the Islanders too. I have no ill-will towards the guy or the Oilers, I genuinely hope he puts it all together...but based on his past I don't expect him to ever be consistent.

A broken clock is right twice a day

as far as drafting goes, it's a crap shoot usually after the top 5. some years it's a complete poope show. 2012 the grif reinhart year, yak went #1 (is he still playing). reinhart also won mvp theyear he won the memorial cup. looked great. great move trading him for the barzel pick. i'm not defending snow at all. i think he needs to go as as well. but as far as drafting.....you just never know how the players are going to pan out.

Seriously!!! 5 is generous. McDavid/Draisatle/Klefbom aside, Seattle's random expansion draft will be filled with faster/younger/cheaper talent throughout the lineup. Edmonton has sunk themselves in high priced slugs. Puljujarvi is looking like a total bust at 4th overall when you look at who was drafted around him. But there's about a 90% chance you will win the lottery again.....
