I haven't seen it confirmed anywhere, but Chris Botta did say that. I doubt he'd make it up, but I'm not sure anything is official until someone else confirms it.

Since Garth Snow became GM in 2006, #Isles have lost 525 of 949 games. Failed to make playoffs 8 of 12 seasons. Still, was told tonight:
- ownership continues to ponder whether to bring him back for a 13th season
- a statement/announcement is likely to be made next week.

Since Garth Snow became GM in 2006, #Isles have lost 525 of 949 games. Failed to make playoffs 8 of 12 seasons. Still, was told tonight:

Plenty of guys like Lombardi although he might not have interest in the Isles? I'm not sure about Lou's situation with the Leafs? Maybe he could be POHO and have his son as GM? Guys like Fenton and Futa. Ledecky could do a 5 second Google search and get better people than Garth.

Ideally? Tom Fitzgerald, the AGM for NJ. He, under the guide of Shero, has turned that team from garbage that was devoid of any talent in their pipeline to a team that drafts well and develops players well. I'd take him all day. Contributors like Miles Wood and Jesper Bratt, plus shrewd moves like bringing in Palmieri and Vatanen are evidence that NJ's front office is doing a really good job.

Dean Lombardi can get (frank)ed, I have no interest in him. This team needs someone that can draft well and develop prospects properly, not some gun-slinging, big swinging dick that is going to come in and sign players to even more terrible deals.

edit: and Fitzgerald interviewed for the vacant Sabres GM job last year, so you know he's ready to take the next step
