Mark Paul: Florida Panthers: What to do with Second Round Pick Adam Mascherin Many people are questioning the Florida Panthers' management team after The Athletic's Craig Custance reported that the Panthers 2016 second round pick Adam Mascherin has chosen to look elsewhere to start his career.

Nice work, Mark. Thanks.
Hopefully they can work out a deal, I've been looking forward to this kid working his way onto the Panthers' roster. He can shoot a puck through a wall.

Sounds like there is someone whispering into his ear.

No problem! He reminds me of Martin Frk on the Red Wings but much shorter. Both could put a hole in a goalie's glove. However, I don't know if either one will ever be more than a bottom six shooter. Which isn't a bad thing, but I don't think losing him will make or break the Panthers.

My thoughts exactly. One of my best friend's brother is in the Florida system and I've nothing but great things about the organization from a development standpoint. I can't find info on who his agent is...if I could that might give us a better clue into the whole situation.

Not much to do. Flip him for some sort of conditional later-round pick. A 5th that becomes a 4th if he signs with whoever he is traded to, or something along those lines.

If what I've heard is correct, he has same agent as Hyman. It's not hard to believe the "whispers in his ear" theory.

Flip his rights for what you can get. You don't wait this long to sign a player you picked in the second round to an ELC. Usually do it that year, sometimes by the next training camp. Tallon should have been trading his rights months ago when he might have still got more.

Reid Boucher for rights to Mascherin.
