The Devils have beat the [Pens and Bolts their last two games. They simply wont go away and are playing clutch hockey. It is time for the Flyers to step up today against a team that beat them badly the last 2 meetings. |

Bill Meltzer: Flyers Gameday: 3/25/18 @ PIT - bmeltzer
Man. Was looking at the Nashville highlights where laviolette got tossed. I see why he was mad. Hartnell hit the minny d, but no arm went up. They swarm him, cross check and punch him and hartnell gets the only call. Wtf? Are the refs smoking. In another game i watched live, Florida took a penalty in their zone immediately prior to the puck being passed out of the zone for a break by bjugstad who gained possession of the puck. The zona player holds him, and the play is blown dead. Somehow this results in offsetting minors when as soon as bjugstad got the puck it should have been blown dead negating the hold. Man the refs have seemed to be brutal this ear. |

I hope Hak doesnt try and shelter Patrick from Crosby or Malkin. Asking Filp to try and establish offensive pressure against either of them has been futile. He has to rely on the 2nd line to hold their own, |

Reply I don't think hak can truly shelter patrick. We need to drive play not be afraid to attack the pens. Plus pens are home so they can play the match ups. Personally I think they'll be dodging the top 2 lines if they can with how poor our bottom 6 has been overall |

Good chance the Flyers will need at least 4 goals to Win the game, the offensive forwards need the minutes at even strength today.

Yeah I'd say we will need 4. Lyon is going to have to stand on his head for us to get any points but he's been good of late. |

Pick your poison, because the Pens have three really good lines. Last time the Flyers played the Penguins, Patrick's line went up against the Brassard -- wouldn't call that "sheltering" -- and dominated. Couturier's line held its own against Malkin's line. But Crosby's line dominated against Filppula's line. |

Yeah, and now the pens are at home with last change. It's going to take a Jesus miracle to get points out of this.

Try 6. They've hung 5 on us every game this season. |

I think Lyon will have to hold them to 4 or less today for us to have any chance. |

Their defense is pretty suspect, the Flyers need to play smart at the blue line and make the Pens d turn and chase to get the puck out. The 3rd pairing needs to play a less aggressive game, they 've been good for at least one 2 on 1 odd man rush a game, that cant happen today.

Murray didn't impress me vs jersey the other day. Hopefully he lays an egg to help us. |

yes Lyon has to play a soild game The team overall has to play better in their own zone as well to have any kind of a chance to win |

My concern is the 3rd pairing getting exposed today. Both guys like to pinch and against this team if either one is late it is going to be ugly. Sanheim could make a big difference with his ability to pass out of the d zone, which they really didn't have in the first 3 meetings. No offense to Haag, but his passing ability is not to the level of Sanheim. Hurting the Pens is about getting the puck out quick to trap their forwards because of the aggressive fore check.

Glue guys with sandpaper to their games. The Flyers play the game the right way. If a player doesn’t bring the lunch pail away from the puck prepare to be benched or scratched in favor of a positive locker room presence.
Like I said, the Flyers play the game the right way. Unlike the Pens, who employed a heinous strategy to get those cups.
If the Flyers win a cup in the next few seasons their one cup will be equal to three Pens cups. |
