I voted for Hall, recognizing that it's unclear whether Garth ever even had the option of trading Hamonic for him. Just the fact that Garth did not explore that possibility was enough for me.

As I previously posted, the 15-year deal for DP was all Charles Wang and The Committee. Garth was not even the decision maker there.

thing is we never will know if we ever had a shot at getting hall......so DP deal was really bad

This final is a joke, one was never offered per staple and the other wasn't even snow. Neither should count so therefore Ladd wins

None of it is going to matter when "Losing John Tavares for nothing" drives an Abrams tank through the front door, mercilessly steamrolling over all the prior competitors and leaving behind a trail of blood, tears, and agony

Staple said he was offered and later backpeddled. Someone posted something last week proving it with his tweet. I guess you just choose to ignore that and believe he wasn't offered because of why?

Yeah that goes against his original tweet which said hall was offered and snow refused which was posted by dedshark I believe? Literally said that. It had nothing to do with wording. That's what it said verbatim. Now you believe Staple when hes obviously backpeddling?

I love the part about JT can be Messier. JT is not even close. Messier never would have put up with a coach like Cappy or GM like Garth.

Take him at which word? Which one are you referring too?

There's no misunderstanding the guy literally said he rejected the offer. You're just choosing to believe his backpedaling bs couldn't be more obvious he's helping wipe the egg off Snow's face.

Messier had a damn good 2-way game..........and leadership qualities. If Ranger fans think they're getting the next Messier for their $12 million cap hit, they will be in for some disappointment.

This is not to knock JT, but it's an insult to even mention JT with Messier. Messier had impact in so many ways that JT does not.

What people in Edmonton? The oiler fans on hockeybuzz ? The article last week was an Edmonton journal article with staples direct quotes in it contradicting what he's saying now. Christ, even their sources verified it. Did you not read the article last week that was posted on here? You posted under it multiple times not sure how you missed it?

Well Messier had a pretty dam good supporting cast around him in Edmonton and New York.

In NY he had a hell of a d man in Leach, a goal tender that was terrific in Richter to start. Give JT the assets around him like Messier had he would be a lot better and quite honestly he's a great Hockey player and you guys are taking him for granted.

The biggest disappointment unfortunately will be when he leaves The Islanders for nothing followed by the Rangers ( if he goes there ) kicking our ass with him in a couple years and being a true contender for the Stanley Cup while we wallow in mediocrity.

Messier had a great supporting cast but with that said messier was a superbly clutch player. Save for one series Tavares has proven to be otherwise and has proved it once again this season. I'm not taking Tavares for granted I like him and want him to stay just like the next guy but he hasn't exactly risen to the occasion when needed multiple times.
