You're right, every team needs to ice a fourth line at least a few times a game. There just isn't a requirement for the players to be useless. - j.boyd919
The thing is, Kuhnhakl is not even that good of a penalty killer. He gives up almost 10 goals per 60 on the PK, which is almost double the rates of Sheahan and Hagelin both a touch under 5.5). Rowney is around 6.5, Rust 7.5. Add in the lack of offense and being the worst in corsi, Fenwick, and shots % by 3% over anyone in the team (next in each case is Rowney) and there just isn't a reason for him to play.
Young guys like Guentzel and ZAR have looked good in small sample sizes on the PK, I'd rather use them. Particularly ZAR if he ends up on the 4th line and can use the extra minutes. |

Any thoughts on why Sheary got yanked from the top line? To me he's better there than anywhere else. |

Yep. Exactly. I mentioned this to Yohe on his QnA the other day but he didn't really have an answer. I asked about a possible Sprong playoffs appearance and he was like "but who is gonna kill penalties" and I posted some stats that showed Kuhn and Rowney are not really all that great and I don't think he ever responded to it. |

His execution has been terrible for quite a while now. There is the term "looks sharp" and then there is the opposite, and that is Sheary right now. |

He either has brilliance... or is a complete dumpster fire. No middle ground. |

I don't watch much hockey anymore, but the calls on Dumo and Hornquest are making the league a joke. Regardless if they are Pens or not, the game shouldn't be decided on a PP for a call that never should be close to a penalty. |

He was brilliant for one month this season. Other than that, it's been dumpster fire central. If he were being treated the way Sprong is being treated, Sheary would be a regular scratch. |

Pretty much. I think he got switched for defensive purposes while protecting a lead myself. When Sheary is pressing like he is now, he just fumbles the puck everywhere. |

Rowney was doing well for a while in the PK, but his game in general has fallen apart humble that it was. For defensive specialists, they've bith been on the ice for a lot of goals against lately.
I'd imagine part of the problem is the loss of Cole who actually was a good PKer.
One place Sully doesn't trust the youth is the PK. Took a lot of guys leaving before Rust got a chance and he's been fine. I'd expect one to stay in the line-up because Sully clearly trusts 5 forwards to do all the PKing. |

I love how on you (and many others I might add) are absolutely right because of made up stats that really do not mean poop, and on the other hand the two time Stanley cup winning coach is wrong because you do internet research. |

But they will tell you that you can't take analytics on their own to judge a player - or at least that's what they say when challenged. Looks like they are judging Knuckles with analytics & ONLY analytics right now don't you? Looks that way to me....... |

Goals against isn't a made up stat? Kuhn has been on the ice for the most PK goals against among forwards and has the 3rd most PK ice time. That's pretty cut and dry. |

There will be a day when you finally can communicate an opinion & debate that same opinion when challenged with a 'little' maturity. It may be a little way off at this stage, but 1 day.
Up until then, keep contradicting yourself. |

Well here's is your chance to show the stats - let's see them big boyd.
Past years stats (let's say the last 2 years when he was part of a Stanley Cup back to back winning team would also be a good reference don't you think?
So when we say Crosby has a lot of goals against 1 argument is that he's on the ice more than most right?
Edit: If you don't provide the stats it's ok, I'll take that as evidence that the stats don't support or they compromise your opinion a little. |

I'm using stats to back up my opinion. You don't think that teams score almost twice as often when he's on the PK then they do when it's Hagelin or Sheahan is relevant? That's not really a "fake stat." I don't think he's an especially good penalty killer, yet that's the first thing people say about him.
He was also benched much of the last Cup run. He's the type if guy you want to upgrade on. |
