matthew tkachuk has really let himself go

Easy to say in hindsight, but I would have given Rittich the first home start off of the road trip. I think we've seen enough from this team to suggest that they were going to lay an egg, at least early in this game. Putting a rusty Smith in that position was asking for trouble, and we got it. Of course, politics being what they are ($6M goalie Vs. AHL call-up) GG went with the safe move.

Sure, it would have been nice to get the win, but last night was one of the few remaining losable games. May as well get Smith in there as soon as possible to shake off the rust.
