I'd really like to know who made the "we gotta go now" comment. After watching the replay a couple of times, I think it was Brodin who turned to the bench and said it. Figures that something like this is realized by one of the "younger" guys on the team.

Really gotta believe that 2 of the 3 players with letters on the sweaters just have no idea on how to get their team to play at maximum effort all the time. I am speaking about Koivu and Suter. Both are basically too low-key to have any effect on their teammates. I am sure the fire is there to perform well, but it doesn't translate to motivation to the rest of the team. I really hope BB sits and thinks about changing the captains for next years team. I still like the idea of it on Parise, as I was not expecting much from him this year because of the back surgery. But Koivu's time as captain should come to an end, and Suter should never have had it in the first place. Maybe Parise as the captain, with Brodin and someone like Nino/Coyle/Granlund/Zucker as the alternates.

I agree with this sentiment for the most part. I've been a big proponent of Koivu for a very long time, but his run with the C on his sweater should have probably ended around the time Parise showed up.

I honestly don't know how much of a difference it makes as far as who the actual team captains are and who are not, but if I had my druthers, Staal would wear the C and the alternates would be Parise and Granlund.

That being said, I don't believe a player has to have a letter on their sweater to be a team leader on the ice or in the locker room. But I do believe the ones wearing the letters need to fulfill their obligation as team captains as far as taking on a prominent leadership role.

As far as Seeler sparking the team??? I don't know, it was a good old school fight, but not so sure losing or winning a fight can really spark a team to victory... I know that's the hockey purists school of thought, but I don't know that I buy into it

Wow! So much for seeing what the kid(Kunin) can do this season! Wonder if Greenway will be signed and brought up right away????

Feel bad for Kunin, hes had a pretty tough season. I'm curious about Greenway as well, I haven't seen him play at all. Im also wondering if they bring up Mitchell, or maybe finally give Anas a shot. The kids been an offensive machine down on the farm, who knows if he can translate it to the big show though.

Aside from his impressive return to his younger years these last 2 seasons, I think he's one of the stand outs for on ice leadership IMO.

Hustling and playing both ends of the ice as well as making the players on his line better.

I would have no issue with Parise getting the C either

Give it to Parise and Zucker/Granland/Nino. Time to infuse youthful leadership and groom the next captain of the organization.

I think a player like Staal is a mistake here. A captain needs to be a captain and for me this org needs to find their next true leader, not just the guy who scores the most points or makes the most money.

He can carry the load no question, but I don't know that you want to tie yourself to him that way. There are certainly worse choices though.

Well i won't disagree with you, all i'm saying is that i think Staals demeanor, on ice enthusiasm and effort are what makes him so successful and to me that earns a letter in my book.

At the same time i agree that one of the younger players ie. Granny, Zook should probably get the C at some point. I just think guys like Staal or Parise have more than earned the opportunity, not just have it handed to them because they were the only stand out or longest tenured player on the team

There's basically nothing at this level that Staal hasn't done at this point.

But he's also 33.
