Interesting game for sure this afternoon...the Hawks with some fight in them...Kane icing it at the end. Whoa 2 pp goals this afternoon.

Be interesting to see how they play in Anaheim tomorrow.

Nice to here the Hawks fans there outchanting the Kings fans...hilarious.

I was doing something else in the family room when the hawks scored their first goal. I had to pop over in front of the tv to confirm that they were in their road whites. That wa quite an ovation.....maybe more of the same tomorrow.

Cheap head shots will not leave the game unless 2 things happen. One. 5 minute penalty for hitting a DEFENCELESS player including hits from behind or any other direction. You can’t simply ruin someone’s life because someone is caught with his head down. You can’t simply destroy another human being’s brain. Two. The Instigator penalty is the dumbest penalty ever created. Hard to sacrifice a PP in many games. It is not often that circumstances are perfect for immediate retribution.

I think the head shot should be an automatic ejection. There would only have to be a couple of these called and I think there would be a reduction of bad hits throughout the league. It’s a shame the league had its head up its butt — but I guess that is quite an effective helmet — when it comes to player safety. But the players have to take a huge part of the blame too — they are the ones dishing out the bad hits and the way the players union is able to step up and fight for reduction of fines and penalties is ridiculous.

Not watching the caps leafs game but caught a minute or do if it while flipping through the channels. If the leafs didn’t have the blue stripes on their uniforms, the players would be invisible. I am sure the uniforms look great on a stage or podium or hanging on the stores’ shekves, but what kind of idiot thinks white uniforms are going to show up well in a game played on a white surface surrounded by mostly white boards.

Saw that on the game today - I’m surprised - over 10 years - they have scored in the same game more often.

I am with you...losing attitude and games becomes habitual...if they were tanking no way they come back in the third in this game...glad to see it...

a couple spots (7-8-9-10) in the draft is not going to mean anything...

"cheering" for the high draft pick if just a way to feel better about the team playing terribly. I'd rather they figure out how to play the right way the rest of the year - from the top to the bottom of the roster. The best hope for next year is if 2, 7, 19, 20, 50, and 88 all play better than this year and the young guys make progress in their development. (and I'm sure they'll still lose plenty of games.)

Or they just have a lot of professional pride and got tired of rolling over and losing all the time. Plus, they have that long-standing thing with the Kings.

The officiating was bad. However, Bad Teeth Doughty did commit a penalty. Carter should have received 5 and a game misconduct for hit from behind into the boards on DeBrincat. DeBrincat actually chased him and ended up getting a penalty himself. Incredible. Carter has always been a complete A-Hole and he is going to get absolutely destroyed eventually. Phaneuf is an insanely highly paid, non-Team Canada moron that any team he is on gets sick of and someone who Elisa Cuthbert will eventually leave for someone with an IQ in the normal range.
- Z3Hawk

That was a garbage play by Carter...always was hoping the Hawks would trade for him...there was a time a few years back when the Hawks talked to CBJ about him I think Sharp was going the other way plus...meantime that should have been 5 and a game. Just glad to see Cat get up...we'll see how they come out today against the Ducks. Hawks gave that away to the Ducks at home a couple weeks back.

Doughty also has an awful "beard". Scraggly and thin.
- EnzoD

Doughty does do everything he can to be as ugly as he can be. It is as if he is doing a sociological experiment that wealth can overcome all negatives.

With you 100%. Want them to win for those reasons, but if they give me good effort this year I’m also okay with it for draft pick purposes.

Not a practical approach at all. Unless this team can recharge its roster with transformational young ELC talent, they are doomed to repeat what happened this year for a long time coming - an aging core matched with middling to lower tier players that will NEVER be a cup contender no matter how hard they try to “figure it out.”

Reasons for awful 2017/18 season
1. Crow missing large portion of the season.
2. Hossa gone
3. Defense hasn’t a clue.
a. You can blame Bowman for the Hammer/Murphy trade
b. You can blame the players.
1. Keith/Seabs aging
2 Oesterle, Rutta, Gus, Kempny, Gus, Dahlstrom, Forsling no good
c. You can blame Q for playing Dmen on their offside and continually changing the pairings
d. You can blame Ulfie.
e. All of the above.
It has to be “e”, but right now I am leaning on Ulfie. They have played 60 games and I have no idea what they are trying to accomplish.
4. PP is bad.
a. You can blame Dineen
b. You can blame Q
c. You can blame Bowman for trading Panarin
5. Yes we can go on and on and on……

Keys to 2018/19 (Premise - Q and Bowman are not leaving - so forget about saying fire them.)
1. A healthy Crow (or go after Raanta)
2. Get a new assistant coach in charge of the D. Someone with experience and success at the NHL level that preaches/teaches a blend of physicality and puck moving. We need a Buddy Ryan type (Ditka’s asst) or a Tex Winter type (Phil Jackson’s asst).
3. Trade or sign a top pairing defender, slot the other Dmen down.
4. Hope Sikura signs and turns out to be the real deal
5. Sign Hino and Hayden.
6. Sign Rutta and Duclair to get a longer look.
7. Do not sign Jurco or keep him at Rockford.
8. Hope Ejdsell is the real deal
9. Continued development of younger players in particular Forsling, Hayden, and Forsberg, but also Kampf, Hino, Schmaltz, Dahlstrom, Duclair, Highmore.
10. Find a left handed shooter/scorer to play on Toews right wing. (maybe Sikura) His line was better and he was better over the years with Kane or Hossa on his RW. If there is a legitimate shooting/scoring threat on that line it will click. Neither Toews or Saad are pure shooter/scorers.
11. Keep Anisimov on the Kane line. Then decide if Debrincat or Schmaltz are the LW.
12. PP - get a right handed scorer that can one time the puck on the LW with Kane on the right. Look at the number of goals Panarin and Sharp scored on the power play from one timers near the left circle. Debrincat, Hino, Schmaltz… They can practice it with Kane over the summer and in training camp.
13. Turn the Q blender down a few notches (from high speed to low). Set your top 3 lines and your pairings at the end of camp and stick with them for a 15 to 20 games.

Yes, absolutely not practical. I just can't cheer against my team, I'm not wired that way. I want them to win.

Absolutely agree they need talent upgrade up and down the roster - better draft, free agents, trades, etc.

But, and I know this might be hard to believe, I don't think me wanting them to win or lose has any impact on the actual outcome of a game, games, seasons, etc. Weird, I know.

Except for block shots, their stats seems to be equal. Hammers game has fallen and would be a ripping point on this site had he not been traded.

Another matinee game today... let's see if the Hawks can build off of their gutsy comeback win yesterday.

Look for Berube in net and the same lineup in front of him.

Anaheim in need of points as well, so could be a spirited affair. Keep your head up for Bieksa and Kesler fellas.

Figure it'll be a tight contest since they got there long lady off game out of the way.

Please stop with all the horrible pinches and turnovers in our own end. Can we have a game without an odd man break

Nm - Forsberg gets the start again. Looks like they are going to ride him. I know he let in a sofie again yesterday but if he's learning from these mistakes (when it doesn't matter anymore), it may really benefit the Hawks for next year.

He's got a hell of a coach in Waite helping, as well as a teacher with Crawford who is the ultimate student of the game.

Darling had his moments when he came here from the AHL and was able to tighten up hos game. If the Hawks think the ability is there then ride him out. If not, time to move on for next year.

Yeah, the guy who slashed Hartman's hand/wrist right before the playoffs which may have led to his less-than-stellar showing that many like to cite as a reason for trading him.
