The fact that they didn't take on an expiring UFA contract is where my disappointment lies.

We have the cap space. Unless I am confused, which I may be, I would have thought there would be a team looking to escape an expiring contract.

Tampa went in. So are we giving them the cup, or should the league wait a few months?

Justin: A quick note and suggestion. I'm not a guy to start out every comment on every column with "Great writeup, Justin!". But just this once...You're doing a great job as the new guy.

One suggestion. I for one don't go back to read the blog multiple times. So using that as a "live" version with multiple updates throughout the day doesn't seem to work here. I am constantly updating the comments section, and read your comments as they show up. I also follow your twitter feed for updates.

Maybe instead of updating the original blog on days like this, you find a font or some marker to include with your own additions to the comments section. Regular Justin Lowe comment for regular stuff, but something like a purple font or a big purple dot to note an update you are providing.

Just a suggestion. Keep up the good work, and congrats on the baby.
