Bob Duff: Zetterberg Still Driving The Bus In the nearly 16 years since he first became a Detroit Red Wing, captain Henrik Zetterberg remains the team's most consistent performer.

Zetterberg still has some game left, although obviously if he's anywhere close to being the best forward on your team these days, your team has big problems.

Kronwall at this point would be better suited to literally driving an actual bus for a living than playing defense in the National Hockey League.

So rumor has it Green will not waive his NTC to go to Toronto. Yep... he's got 9 teammates with those NTC thanks to our idiot GM Holland who "does not believe in tear-downs or full rebuilds". Team is a freakin' trainwreck doomed to mediocrity (that's probably too generous).

Holland got you guys one hell of a package for Tatar.

At least be thankful for that.

Makes up for him not being able to do a thing with Green, for whatever reasons. It's something at least...

Welp, Mrazek and Tatar were probably my two favorite Red Wings since Lidstrom left and Datsyuk retired. A year or two ago I would have been crushed, but fortunately for me I seem to have lost most of my emotional investment in this team or roster by now.

From an objective standpoint, a first, second, and probably three thirds being the most likely outcome (one of those thirds could end up a second or fourth, and another conditional on Mrazek re-signing in Philly) is not a terrible return for a goalie they weren't going to qualify and a half-point-per-game winger making $5 million. Considering the immediate circumstances, Ken Holland got respectable value

Having said that, praising Ken Holland for trading Mrazek and Tatar is kind of like praising him for shooting himself in the foot and then convincing the hospital to give him a 70% discount on the surgery. It's hard to get excited about trading away two likable, productive, useful players in their mid-20s on relatively reasonable contracts, when the likes of Ericsson, Abdelkader, Helm, DeKeyser, Nielsen, and Daley -- guys on contracts that were obviously garbage well before the ink dried -- play on.

Was about to say.

When you look at it as a whole,
Holland did alright on what should not have been a dilemma in the first place.

Just be thankful he did alright. Imagine the outcry if all you got was a 2019 1st.

Adding on to what Pasha13 stated. This team's contract situation is a mess that will take years to fix. The blame lays solely on Holland and there needs to be consequences, especially at this point.

Fire his ass by season's end or else you guys are f'd going into the next season.

I think its a better return than Nash/Stastny/Kane had gotten, albeit, picks at the very end of each of their respective rounds, but I'd still be happy. Only disappointment was that they didn't move Green

Yes... thanks to Hollad's dumbass we lead the NHL in NTC clauses (it was 10 last I remember). Man... I hope Chris Illitch fires him and Blashilll. It's our only hope.
