Spooner is young enough, at age 26, to possibly stay with NYR and while he’s expected to play tonight, Spooner becomes like any other NYR at this deadline: available for the right price. So we’ll see if there’s any action on him. |

looks like I guessed right this morning about Boston retaining half of Beleskey's cap hit.
- IF we keep Spooner, is he worth 4 - 4.25 per...? |

so I guess if Rangers kept Beleskey in Hartford next year, it would take another 950k off the hit and the Rangers would have a million dollar cap hit for him
pardon me if you wrote that in blog too, just trying to process everything so fast right now |

Rangers have two firsts two seconds and two thirds. And we’re complaining it’s not enough for a rebuild???
If you don’t like this trade you need to have your head examined I’m sorry
It feels like people are completely forgetting THEY GOT ANOTHER FIRST RD PICK |

One key piece I just updated the blog with: One additional point is that if Beleskey passes through waivers, only around half the cap space stays on the books, making the next impact somewhere between $950K-$1mil in dead cap space on what may be a $78-82 million cap. |

Just was adding that, doing this somewhat on fly, but a great point and a huge key. |

You guys just got a 1st and a prospect to get the better winger in the deal.
Well played. |

I’m still waiting for the other shoe to drop, meaning NYR gave up something else lol
I’m in disbelief they got that much for Nash. Disbelief I tell ya!! |

I'm not saying this just to say this, but idk how Gorton didn't do good here. He got Boston to throw in Beleskey and they we're somehow able to keep Vaakanainen, Donato, Senyshyn and Frederic.
I guess He really wanted Lindgren |

not sure if he's the better winger, but he's a RFA so it should be easy to flip him if he doesn't fit the plan... |

I think people are thinking that Spooner is some scrub.
These will be the same people that complain about a return for Miller if we traded for him, who is a player in a similar class to Spooner.
This was a heist. Not because Nash isn’t a great player but because he’s a rental. The Sabres trading Kane and other sellers should send Gorton a thank you note for setting that market.

Any of the latter three is who I wanted especially Donato. But to get the first, a possible third line piece with upside and d-prospect isn't too bad. |

I like Spooner a lot and comparison to Miller is a good one. Think Miller is better offensively, but Spooner on third line is a good fit. |

Yea I am not sure what to think about this trade...the 1st is great and so is Lindgren...but why take on Bealesky if you are not getting a top prospect?
Not saying I hate the trade but just don't get it fully yet |

Shows how desperate Boston is for one more run with Chara.
Gonna be a good deadline for NHL! |
