Not buying the Flyers in on Kane at all. McKenzie is likely getting that info from a Buffalo source who is trying to drive up the price for Kane. I can't see Hextall paying what it would cost to bring in a rental like Kane when his more pressing need is landing one more decent Dman.

maybe your right but when dreger or McKenzie say anything you know there is something to it.He does say that philly are looking at kane as a rental. The other teams are thinking longer term.So you have to figure they would give up more than the flyers.

That’s just it...you don’t pay up for a rental like you would for a long term play. I like the game Kane brings but not much else (antics). The entire league knows his routine so whatever contract you give him is waaaaay harder to trade.

This is the way I see hextall interest in all the big names on the market.

"Hey (team x) how much for (player y)?"
"X,y,z"
"Okay call me Monday if nobody else gives you that and I'll give you a quarter of that"

I also don't like damaging personalities coming into our locker room. No ty. Nope.

Pretty much how I see it. I mean if Buffalo wants to move Kane for a mid round pick and Raffl and they'll retain half of Kane's salary, sure, why not? But he isn't giving up anything of significance to rent Evander Kane.

I still think we have the assets to get Karlsson and with Nashville “out” it isn’t a stretch.

By the way in #bluestankwatch we have Nashville vs blues at 12 pm on NBC as the national game today

Maybe you want to have a defense that costs you 70% of the salary cap but I sure dont.

Maybe that’s the point...we rent him for not a whole heck of a lot. Even if they don’t retain salary, the hit isn’t going to hurt us this year and the cost in assets will be less.

Probably won’t be resigning Wayne. Yes he will be the highest paid D Man in the league. And probably not worth it in the latter years. But it makes out D insane even giving up a Sanheim or Myers in the deal.

Perhaps, but I wouldn't hold your breath. I really don't see this happening.

I could be totally wrong, but I can't see Hexy giving up Sanheim and/or Frost to get Karlsson. I hope he ends up in Vegas, that would be a terrific fit , IMO.

Coots gost contracts expire at 30 for them so they have 1 big contract after this. Provorov will get top d man money let's pencil that in now. Patrick will need probably 1c money by than with tk frost etc looking at contracts and if hart is the goalie we think he is he is at that time getting Lindquist money as well. Karlson hinders all of that. We already have 2 big contracts to players into their mid 30s that's all we can afford at this point. Our shiny new toys won't be young affordable forever and I don't make any trade that hinders our long term future.

I would prefer a depth d man and a young guy with some potential and size to our bottom 6.

Just spitballing here, but what if in a Kane deal it became 3 way with a cap floor team like Arz where we send a pick and Lethera contract that free's up 4.7 next year and with Flippula 5 mil coming off the books you don't necessarily have to view it at as a rental.Again, just spitballing here and yes I understand that your coming up on major salary raises for Provy etc in the next few years...

I do think as Karlsson ages, he will still be very good. His skating won't fall off a cliff and he is a very smart dmen. Paul Coffey was a fantastic skater throughout his career. I can't write the Flyers can't use a Karlsson, but Ghost and Provy are already close to elite making the need not pressing. Also, I still believe Sanheim has the potential to get to that level. Get Amacs 5 million off the cap, then it becomes possible from a cap stand point.

Those “2 big contracts” are long but not forever. By the time Hart and others need to be paid they may be off the books. Hart may still be 2 seasons out.

I just don't see Hextall moving a combo of top prospects and first round picks right now when your goaltending heading into the playoffs is a streaky Petr Mrazek and 2 guys coming off significant injuries. It pretty much goes against everything Hextall believes in. At the end of the day, don't be surprised if he either just stands pat, or, at most, picks up a veteran depth Dman.

Today our top pair is fine, but the rest is suspect. Ghost is playing every bit as well as Karlsson is right now. But...depth. And yes please, let’s find a way to dump AMacs contract.

Agreed, that's how I see it playing out.
