Yea I don't get the Murphy treatment this year. He was the best defender for some stretches and probably struggled some others. I don't know why you would screw with a guy who has all the tools and looked like he was starting to get it.

Major shake up is needed one way or another.

Current format is no longer working.

Justin, do you think it is one or the other, Q or Bowman, what are the chances for both? If Q goes, I hope Bowman goes too. Otherwise, it is too reminiscent of Jerry Krause remaining after Phil Jackson left the Bulls and that didn't turn out so well.

Major shakeup, unfortunately, while the best route from a hockey standpoint, is the most expensive to implement organizationally.

Educated guess:

Q gets "reassigned" within the organization this summer, Bowman stays but under a "turn this thing around or else" Sword of Damocles.

Likely they promote Granato or Dineen (but that part is pure speculation).

I would be displeased if they promoted Dineen to head coach, at least at first glance. I don't see what he's done to get that promotion.

In that case Q would not be working in the same office as Stan. Maybe as an out of office scout? Binny's?

Hard for me to see Q getting the boot, but it wouldn't surprised me at all.

Guess:

StanBo stays (feel like the big wigs still like him and Scotty having a face within the organization,) Q gets the boot depending on the trades that are made at the deadline. AA and Hartman go, Q I think sticks around. If they can't them out, they ditch Q and bring in a new coach with a different style to try to make it work in some facet.

What I would like: Keep Q, ditch StanBo. Q clearly does not have a roster that allows him to be the coach that we are all familiar with. Not to mention if Q goes, I am not a fan of what is possibly out there to replace him.

Monday is still a big day for the Hawks even if there aren't HUGE moves.

If Q stays within the organization, then nothing will change as Dineen will stay his puppet.

I don't really follow the Bulls, but is that comparison applicable.

Wasn't some of that an issue with FA's not wanting to come play for the Bulls after Jordan and Pippen publicly slamming Krause, or do I have that wrong? Like I said, not really a roundball fan.

I'd like to see Q get reassigned and Bowman stay but if they decide to go in a completely different direction with both of them going, I suppose that's ok too, though it wouldn't be my preference.

championship seasons require alot of positives to come together to win; bad seasons require alot of negatives:

1. the meltdown of the core
2. the loss of hossa; but we all knew that was coming
3. saad's poor season
4. hartman and panik decline from last year
5. loss of crow
6. the none emergence of a solid top 4 dman

there are many others but one issue that despite the negatives above is this teams continued not starting well and playing 40 min instead of 60 minute games; q again mentioned last night..."still looking for 60 minutes"...

its game 61...still looking for a complete effort???

i don't think Q's or stanbows fate has been decided...management has to decide first the direction they want to go in

So what happens if Q is again not on the same page as the new GM? Maybe Q needs to be Coach/ GM?

Need some 3 point games tonight:
Buffalo/ Detroit
Rangers/ Montreal
And some upsets: Edmonton, Ottawa, Arizona

Our lottery position has dropped from 7 to 9 with these 2 recent wins. We need a good night tonight.

I pretty much agree. Just saying what I think they are more likely to do.

Well, he did (after all) get Q's drinking buddy Kitch fired (with his end-of-season interview where he apparently peed all over what was going on).

Q staying in the organization makes sense given his contract.

I'd rather see Granato, fresh perspective.

It's a tough rebuild with so much cap space taken up by a couple/few players underperforming their contracts by a few million per. I'm still hoping there is a new CBA that allows one or two contracts to be dropped.

Curious to see what the roster looks like heading into next season; a quick retool to make another cup run (that'd be quite a retool) or a roster in rebuild mode with a longer planning horizon.

JJ--While I understand people wanting a "fresh take," I still maintain my stance that Q is not the problem.

You can't fire the players, so the coach usually takes the heat.

Yeah, they had Benny the Bull at O'Hare to meet visiting free agents and it completely backfired.

For the record I disagree. I think Q has Dineens hands tied. I hope Dineen gets the reins. But no matter what, the discord between coach and GM has to stop. Time tells, we'll see.

Did anyone else feel the way I did watching Karlson's play last night vs the statements made by the Sportnet crew?
That is:
-top 3 world talent
-would take a boat load of assets going the other way in a trade for him
Yet I think that unless he had a bad game, Karlson looked good but not great. Is someone going to severely overpay for him? Is that the real reason Ottawa is thinking about trading him?
