Peter Tessier: On the Kings and possible trades Jets host Kings but most fans are more curious about the impending trade deadline and what the Jets might do.

Never mind paying a kings ransom for Nash or Vanek when they can look at the likes of Wolski, Borque or Iginla, for free!

Scheifs and Wheeler are not only good hockey players but they are also very good at fan base management. These two are very wise because the Jets 2.0 have never won a playoff game and it is uncharted territory. From a professional sales perspective, "dousing the flames" it is called managing expectations, hopefully their underpromising can be followed up with over delivery.

As far as upgrades or tweaks go, I wouldn't mind seeing a player like Zucarrello added or some forward grit. But, if Chevy does nothing, I will be OK with that because this team has proven to be resilient this year and patient. That is positve growth.

Also, bear in mind that we will get a big boost when Trouba and Lowry return. And despite what alot of ppl think, I want Hendriks playing come playoffs. The team will need him come playoffs in the room, on the bench, on the ice as a guy willing to do anyhting to win and experience to help the young guys stay calm and patient. My 2 cents.

Dumb penalty by Petan. That was a penalty Evander Kane would take, dumb, dumb, dumb. Gets hit cleanly and chops the stick. Very selfish, can't take a hit. AND THEY SCORED!

SEND Petan to the dressing room. Boy, what a dumb f---------g penalty. These are the plays that just really iritate me and completley p!ss me off!

What ever Chevy does, please trade that dumb f-----er Petan.

Agree with Petan. Takes so many dumb penalties since he has come back from the Moose.

Tonight game is very much a playoff style game. Not a lot of room to move. As I said in earlier threads. LA or SJ are not teams we want to meet in the first round. LA is also better with Phanuef. Expect SJ to make a move as well. Much rather play the likes of Dallas or Calgary.

Yes, Chevy needs to find a player that can play on the right side that can get the puck out. Seriously, how many times have you seen a Jet try to clear the puck this year, flips it to their D on the right side, and into our net. How many times have I posted this same scenario? My god, how hard is it to clear the puck out on the right side? The other teams know they are going to get a goal just on pressuring the right side. I bet we have had at least 10 goals scored this year alone on this same play, same right side, usually it is Laine but they changed it up to Ehlers this time. The young guys are not showing well tonite. Calling it as I see it.

So this is a "consistent" problem and you can't screw up with basic plays like this in the playoffs. So please Chevy, go find someone with some experience that can clear the puck. Jumping junipers.

LA should send a nice thankyou gift to the Jets for handing them 2 points. Lack of discipline, poor basic defensive plays, that same goal off the right side clearing attempt, boy, this game really bothered me. Laine scores again but his defensive game, my goodness. Ehlers, WTF?? Petan, trade him or send him back to the Moose. My goodness.

I don't think I have watched a game this year where I have actually been physically angry after the game like this game. If I was one of these three, I would try and find a different room to change in.

Seriously you guys, yes petan took a stupid penalty, absolutely. But seriously, buff and wheeler lead this team with stupid penalties. When the coach doesn't hold them accountable for their stupid penalties it's sets a president.

Charlie, I disagree a little. I don't like tempering expectations at all, to me it's like they are saying hey we've never won anything and if we make the playoffs that's good enough. Remember, when the kings and Blackhawks each won their first cup they were younger than we are now and I don't recall ever hearing Toews or Daughty telling their team to temper expectations.

To all the Big Armia fans out there, has it been ten "where's Armia" games yet? Can I expect to notice him anytime soon?

OK, But in terms of Buff and Wheeler, I don't think it is quite to the extent that is was when Kane, Buff and Ladd took their share of dumb penalties a few years ago.

Laine's slash, I missed, Connor tripping penalty was careless, Petan was retaliatory and plain stupid, Buff tripping was he is pushing the guy away from the net, ok, at least he is trying to do something, and Buff high stick, careless. Again, he is in tight trying to hack the puck out and is careless. There is a difference between careless and dumb. Especially when you are a call up trying to prove that you belong in the NHL. He took some dumb penalties in another game where he scored.

Petan's penalty was a carbon copy of a typical Wpg Jets Evander Kane penalty. Bad attitude! And they scored. Not doing much to try and prove that you belong on the big club.

Ross, I am bolding this because you are correct. I don't think that they are tempering the team, they are tempering the fan base like you and me and the rest of MB. And, I think we need some tempering to be honest. I like this team because there is growth there, resiliency and sticking to the game plan, better goaltending, etc, etc. I am happy. But guys, we ain't there yet.

There will bad games like last nite where I think we handed it to them. That will happen, the question is how do we bounce back. We have bounced back before positively so I am not worried. But, has anyone noticed how thin we are in goaltending at the moment. We are riding our horse pretty hard here and knock on wood we don't have any forthcoming issues in net because if there is, we have problems. 2 goalies in the infirmary, back up has 2 NHL games under his belt.

I am not trying to temper any expectations but, pump the brakes a bit.

BTW, Helle needs a night off. Watching a game from the bench never hurts once in awhile imop.

We are a top 5 team in the league, to me that means we are there now. If your waiting for a perfect team you'll never get there. Teams have won the cup with less than what we have now. If your pumping the brakes it's because you want to watch the train pass.
our window is now open!! Live in the now!!! Not in the past, everything this team has done up to now means nothing!! No sense looking back wheeler, you are not going that way!!!

I should have been more clear when I stated "We ain't there yet". I meant, we ain't at the end of the season, which is the finish line. After that, the new season starts. I really don't think anyone, fans or players want to stand and watch the train pass but let's get to the finish line and play with good hockey habits. Last nite was not a good example of good hockey habits aka discipline.

Last night is a prime example of what a playoff game will look like with this squad. Aside from the majority of fans who want to stand pat, last night screamed of lack of depth. I know, the healthy bodies are coming back. What if, Morrissey, or god forbid, Wheeler goes down on the home stretch? Yeesh... First round ousting IMO.

If we cant get Zuccaralo, how about Darren Helm? Hes a swiss army knife, who is finally healthy. Maybe an additonal D man with NHL pedigree?

Helm has a no-trade clause and a very bad contract to take on.

Was at the game last night: 1st period solid ... 2nd period running around ... 3rd period meh

With good sticks and aggressive checking, Kings took our passing lanes away and kept us hurrying our play ... we were banging the puck around like a bantam team

Petan looked and played like he's disinterested ... ya, he can be good with the puck at times but best for Jets and himself to move on

Trades:

This new "2nd" line interests me ... Perrault-Little-Roslovic ... Little works with those wingers better than Ehlers & Laine ... a little worried for playoffs (if we make it) about their size but I like what I see ... if we keep that line intact - we need to pick up a centreman that can play with Ehlers & Laine ... that won't be Lowry ... maybe a season or two down the line it could be Roslo ... but not yet

If we stick Ehlers & Laine back with Little, move Perrault back to 4th line, and get Troubs, Lowry, and Tanev back from injuries then not sure if we need to pick anyone up for the playoff push

Enstrom looks to me to be slowing up some ... he also can't shoot worth a f_ck

I thought Enstrom had one of his best games last night.
