It seems apparent that you overvalue the Sabres tradeable assets like Kane and Lehner. Those guys aren’t getting you a return for someone like Sanheim or Hanifin. Young #1 potential defenseman don’t grow on trees.

Trust the process, as Garth would say.

Don't you know everyone wants Buffalo's garbage. Kane is ice cold, but his value keeps going up. Pacioretty who is a far better player then Kane, and signed for another year, is worth Kempe from LA. Kane, ice cold, off ice issues and soon to be UFA is worth every prospect and pick that LA has.

The Flyers can't trust their goalies for a playoff run, but should trade top prospects and picks for Lehner who has never won a playoff game, and has worse stats.

The best is Gorges. who can't stay health, and when health has been a healthy scratch on the 2nd worst team in the league, is going to get assets.

Corduroy.... I would like to thank you for actually taking the time to gather the spelling errors into one comment on a consistent basis. We all see it and complain, but having them all right in front of you shows how bad it really is.

Garth, honestly, you do realize that while Botterill was holding onto his assets (and I'm not blaming him for doing so) other teams have become sellers? So, the Buffalo players haven't really gained any value. I don't believe that they list any, but there won't be huge bidding wars.

None of these players are building blocks or difference makers. Garth is dreaming in technicolor if he thinks the Sabres will con a tram into trading for these flawed players. No top prospects. No premium picks.

You blogs are tough to read but you can take heart in the fact that here in Pittsburgh we have a sports writer whose writing is 10x more difficult to read and who is an exceptionally obnoxious and irritating person. His name is Rob Rossi. Although he has lots of bad ideas too (like trading Malkin) he is not as delusional.

I wouldn't give up a bag of pucks for Kane and would only give up something on par with the value of a good backup goalie for Lehner. More draft picks and prospects are not going to help the Sabres (they have had lots in recent years ). What they need is good player-leadership and player development.

Kane's still going to get a decent return. Buy that, I mean either a young roster player that's redundant on a contender and a pick/prospect. Or, a decent prospect and pick.

I could see three pieces, but that pick would then be 2nd at most and a b level prospect.

Reinhart.... I think it depends on whether teams think he might still be able to play center. A team like the Pens, who are loaded at the wings, might take a flyer on him stepping up his game with really talented wingers.

I think at best, Kane and Lehner would get you a first and a couple of later picks (3rd and 4th maybe), although that may be stretching it. It’s hard to see either getting a prospect or two back in a deal for both.

Here's what Garf/Garp does not get, when Kane, Ehner, Reinhart and any other of the 20-something plug in roster pieces get traded off cancer island for the "treasure trove" of assets, you will have garbage in/garbage out, In no particular order.

Loser Organization, Loser Management, Loser Players = 48 years of Losing...with NO END in sight.

Nill would have to part with 2017 third overall pick left defenseman Miro Heiskanen, winger prospect Remi Elie and a 2018 first round draft choice for EKane.

I don't see the Stars trading away their first since the draft is in Dallas this year, and I don't see them giving up Heiskanen for Kane. Chances are slim they'd give up either, chances are "Nill" they'd give up both.

There is no way the Stars would part with 3rd overall pick.
