He's moving up the list because he is the greatest goal scorer of all time

Hey Maverick,

Some guys named Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Mike Bossy would disagree with you pal

I said greatest goal scorer of all time, not player of all time. As for that list the best goal scorer was Mike Bossy. I would actually personally put Brett Hull up there as well.

However, Mike Bossy's goal scoring totals would have gone down if he had more longevity in his career.

Plus there is the fact that era's can't really be compared and right now is the hardest time there has ever been to score and Ovi does that in spades and isn't done yet.

He will likely hit the 600 goal mark before 1000 games.... that's insane in this era.

I've seen a few articles saying that by the end of his career Ovi is the only active player on pace to break 99's goal scoring record. Again in an era where goals are this hard to come by, that is amazing.

I would say mid/late 90's to 2005 was hardest era to score, however ovechkin is amazing. Love the character too. He will pass many more on his way up the leader board. Enjoy the privilege of watching a games elite. And can we get one more stick on fire celebration lol?

I think the average goal scored per game was pretty low in the late 90's but have been lower in the Ovechkin Era. Especially early in his career but they are still quite low.

Ovi is currently 303 goals away from passing 99's goal scoring title. That means if he averages 30.3 goals for the next 10 years he can pass him.

That alone is do-able considering Ovi still has his speed and even when that diminishes he can still resort to his shot from the top of the circle.

However, keep in mind that every year he gets more than 30.3 goals, that average does down and makes it even more do-able.

Hey james
Any thoughts on OEL's team worst -37?(next closest -22)
Or how about Dan Girardi having a great year in Tampa with reduced "D" zone starts?

James, I am extremely worried. Ever since the beautiful disaster that was your last Coyotes blog, your comments / clicks are WAY down. Does this mean your kids will be going to North Bay Community College instead of the University of Toronto?
