Slow your roll. That's too much thinking for Kenny. Start with Glenny and then go from there. |

Beware. If the Leafs get Glenny, Matthews ice time will be cut. |

For any old CHEERS fans like me, I keep thinking of Babs standing in front of Lou each day screaming. Instead of saying "Let's Get Gary! Let's get Gary!" it's "Let's get Glenny! Let's get Glenny!" |

*Sigh*
Dear Mjones242,
Sorry for not replying sooner, I posted stuff on the internet and left for lunch as I lacked the time for a huge debate on the matter....
Domi has been put in a more favorable position icetime wise, but he's also been playing with the worst team in the league his whole career. Him putting up 2 season with a 50 point per season pace is better than what Brown has accomplished so far. Despite a reduced role, you cannot deny the difference in environement for both players.
You can talk about Brown scoring 20 goals (who's 1 year older btw) and I'm not taking that away from him. But it remains to be seen if he's ever going to reproduce that kind of production. His career high in points remains 34. Paul Byron scored 20 goals last season, you don't see me clamoring it will soon become the norm for him. I'd dare think there are better odds of Domi going back to a 50 points pace (or more) if his team ever stops sucking than Brown socring 20 goals every season.
And nothing is telling me that Domi, put in a similar role than Brown would not do just as effective of a job. In fact, I dare think that players with, what I consider to be superior abilities, are actually usually better on the PK than usual "PK specialists". Brad Marchand ((frank) him) is a good example of that fact.
You can always argue that Brown will cost less than Domi at the end of the day and that in the Leafs current needs, it's a better fit for him... but that only confirms that you also believe Domi will/should receive a better payday because his skill will justify it at some point.
You have every right to like Brown, not want to trade him or whatever. But if you were to ask every GM out there who they would pick first? I'd dare bet Domi would be the majority's choice.
That is, of course, my humble opinion only. I'm done as I'm not actually trying to convince anybody here.
Cheers mate. - Scabeh
In Brown's first season, he played for the worst team in the NHL.
And he delivered 6 points in 7 games.
So apologize to Leafs Nation, Scabbie...
...and have a good weekend. |

To be honest, I probably would have preferred drinking at Gary's Old Towne Tavern. |

Possible Mike Babcock quote, if Lou gets Glenny...
"Well Glenny plays HEAVY. He's an elite competitor, a good man, a warrior, a winner, he plays the right way and you win playoff games with guys like Glenny. I love him. I'm so excited to have him here and I know he's excited to be here. Let's start on time tonight and focus on what Glenny can add to our lineup. He just makes us that much better and as a team we only want to get better each time we go out on the ice." |

Martin for glendening? - Tumbleweed
Kenny had interest in signing Martin before he signed with the Leafs. Right now that would be a redundant trade for the Wings. But I could see Kenny doing it. |
