Steve another well written post - that was the most disheartening loss of the yr for me.
Cam cam cam that was terrible D at the end ...
Sharks playing 2nd game in less than 24 hrs w / travel - and Ducks couldn’t take advantage ...
and what the hell where Cam & Beauch doing out there at the end ??? Where were Josh & Hampus - they better sweep this trip ...
Kase is getting better by the second what a find .. and poor Cogs .. at least 3 goals right there ...he just can’t finish.

The Anaheim Ducks are a team who's faced a lot of hardships, and you're just hoping they'll figure it out and go on a run. IDK - watching the game against the Sharks ... they had so many opportunities. They're getting so many opportunities, and life would be so much easier if they just buried some of these high grade chances they're getting.

The problem with this team, for me, is the spectrum of highs and lows from where they're either pushing offense like hell or they're loitering around playing 130 ft hockey is too significant. It's weird watching this group make a conscious decision to let up, resort to chipping the puck out, and be fine with receiving the game.

Carlyle has to know that there's this habit where this team gets a lead, and then they’ll absolutely shut down. When that happens the transition game goes to crap, and they don’t get anywhere. I don't know how much Carlyle's poured it on. I don't know what cards he still has in his hand, but you see the switch flip and I think to myself, They're in survival mode.

For me, as a fan, I'd like to see this group have something they can build off of. A highly effective means of punishing the opponent. Personally, I see all this talent out on the ice, and if I was on the power play on this team, I wouldn't be happy with myself. Last year, you heard rumors of MacLean and Getzlaf bashing heads. I mean at least there was passion. All I’m saying is there are a couple more gears here, and this team needs something.

This is professional sports. The margin between winning and losing is so slim, and this group is close. We’ll see what happens.

When will Carlyle be let go ? I think the Ducks can be the top team in the West with another leader behind the bench.

Right on about Kesler. I love the guy but he's a 15 min per night player at this point. He should be back to the RK17 we love next year.

Carlyle, who coached this team to the WCF last year, still has quite a bit of latitude. The only reason why the Ducks are out of a playoff position right now is because the western conference is extremely competitive this year, and the Ducks had a ton of injuries to deal with the first half of the season.

If this team was interested in winning big in January, Bruce Boudreau would still be their coach. The Ducks still have a chance of making it to the playoffs, and I believe there is more to this group than what we’ve seen, and I expect Carlyle to start to ramp it up big time in about three to four weeks.

No matter what though, Carlyle will definitely be Anaheim’s head coach throughout the entire 2018-2019 season.

For the Ducks this year it’s one of those weird situations where you really can’t say. With that being said - most likely - I think the moves to be made were already made when the Ducks traded for Henrique and picked up Brown off of waivers. So unless there is a significant change in trends, I see management staying the course with their current roster.

Don't care about the"woulda, shoulda, coulda" argument. Ducks just lost to Detroit. That's after losing to Ottawa in OT and losing to Montreal.

Steve, ready to argue with me when I say the Ducks play down to their competition?

I rest my case.

Disgusted.

That game was pretty much the beginning of the end of the season. We are statically still alive but Bob would have to be crazy if he decided to trade assets to shore up this team for a playoff run. Right now the fan base needs hope and the team needs some youthful exuberance. I'd love to see the team showcase some younger players. Maybe trade some players to get picks. Because to be honest the present is depressing. But the future is always promising. Alas. The normal thing for this team to do is to stick there head in the sand and pretend everything is ok. Everthing is not ok. But hope. That is always a commodity that sells.
