Sprong needs to be sprung, apparently.

Read a Mackey interview with Sullivan this morning. Doesn’t sound like they have any intention of calling him up soon.

I was encouraged that Sullivan’s main gripe seemed to be puck support in the offensive zone (which I actually agree was an issue). He had been talking about how Sprong needs to work on his defense I would be running off the assumption that Sprong was never gonna pan out here right now. With pure offensive talents I’m always worried coaches will do the square peg round hole thing and try to make them something they’re not.

TIOPS reporting the Pens are discussing Grabner internally, but supposedly the asking price for him is a 1st. I've wanted Grabner here for a while, but I'm not up for giving up a 1st for him.

If the Pens are going to trade a 1st I'd hope it would be a for a major upgrade at 3C under term.

I honestly didn't think was that bad defensively when he was up here, but what do I know.

My fear is what you're talking about and they just don't use him right because of his defensive downfalls.

I kinda hope we pick up Vanek and Grabner instead of spending so much on Kane or another big name. I feel having Grabner on our bottom lines and PK as a SHG threat will help us tremendously especially in the playoffs. I feel like Vanek would do well instead of Sheary he could add similar scoring but wouldn't be as easily moved off the puck. I think around the deadline the prices will drop for Grabner.

If you want guys that can score and make no attempt to play defense then go sign a guy like Brandon Pirri

There's a reason Pirri is not in the NHL and couldn't stick with any team

It doesn't do your team any good if you score 25 goals and are on the ice for 35 against

If Sprong is that guy, then he'll have a nice career bouncing from team to team and ending up in the AHL for life

Crosby and Kessel are minus players this season, your argument is moot

Riley Sheahan. Third on the team in ES points per 60. Doesn't produce enough to be a 3rd line center. 🤔

Hagelin has taken a step forward this month is a major understatement. Guy went from debatablely worth half his salary to a bargain the way he's producing now.

I know Rust has struggled hitting the empty net, but why give up a first for an empty net specialist?

I think he'd be a nice add but not worth our 1st

Sheahan at 3C just isn’t going to hold up against Tampa or Boston IMO... if the Pens make it that far.

Yeah people just don’t like the aesthetics of his game, but he’s very effective.

I agree. I don't understand the complaints. He's fine for what he is.

Sprong should probably also split time with Crosby wearing the C.

I'm not saying he hasn't been effective, and trust me, I would love to be proven wrong. I never want any Penguin player to not be good enough.

Jboyd posting some stats comparing Bonino's and Sheahan's high-danger scoring chances and I swear I'm not trying to nitpick, but I'd like to see them split between when he's played 3C and 4C.

If the Pens make it to the ECF, I'm just not comfortable with him being the 3C going up against Tampa, Boston or even Toronto. I think all three are stronger than any other team in the Metro right now.

If Sheary or Guentzel dont pick up their play, I think a trade for a winger might be a requirement...

Guentzy 3C She-man 4C, they pick up a low profile under the radar type winger. JR weaves a little more magic.

On another topic Caps have really scored signing Eller to that contract - especially if you go by his stats.

As beat up as our stars were all night I would have picked him and Letang in front of the players Sully picked last night in the shootout.
