Didn't Lafontaine (hockey guy) hire Tim Murray?

The hockey ops role would have been good at the beginning to avoid hiring the wrong guy.

They had that guy and he wound up a) hiring the wrong guy

b) trying to micromanage him (which was so (frank)ing stupid, anyone who'd speak to Tim for more than 5 minutes would have known that was never going to happen lol)

c) wound up being forced out of an organization for the 2nd time

They seem to have figured out the right guy to take the reins both at the NHL and AHL level.

The need for a VP kinda expired when we chose to just go through hell with TM.

I honestly think if Murray only traded rentals this team would be so much better today

Great blog Michael

Just my opinion, but the off season and trades by jbotts has worked out perfect.

Sabres are in 2nd last and going to hopefully pick top 5

Rochester has been able to keep the prospects learning and not forced into nhl action chasing 8th place

We can unload the useless fa players and not worry about backlash of chasing 8th.

Imagine if we were in 9th a few points out and we traded instead of adding after 11 years of not advancing

Good point
I was kinda comparing year 3 eichel at center with domi

Domi would be a great addition
Fits with the speed, youth and upside

They are in last place , so I bet they only have a handful of untouchable similar to the sabres

Keller
Oel
2018 draft pick
Dylan strome???

What do you mean ?
He was an ahl all-star

Imagine if we had him and not eichel.
This board would be brutal.

Sabres have been playing good hockey, bad breaks last night. Also bad shot accuracy the past couple

Why I loved the Kane trade. Not having him that year while injured and downgrading from Myers to Bogosian got us jack instead of Strome.

Sbroads loves to forget that when he continuously bashes the trade.

That team was on pace to finish last with or without the trade. Myers was terrible, thats what the pro kane and bogosian guys always love to say. So was stafford.

That team was bound for 30th. Nobody makes a huge blockbuster trade on the notion that it will help them secure last. They make trades like going from neuvirth to lindback

But if you are playing that card and saying it had a major impact, whats to say myers doesnt help us win more games and finish 3rd last instead of 2nd last? Then we would have been in the slot that won the lottery.

Same this year, when everyone is complaining about jbotts not shaking things up.

Scott wilson trade helps
Every off season signing/trade helped
Hiring rookie coaches
Keeping Kane this long

We really need another star to go with jack

@365:

Murray clearly wanted Kane in a big way, but it sure was a bonus that he was out for the season.

Also, man did the battle for last get way too close for comfort.

It's hard trying to stay out of last this season.

Tmgm absolutely made that to ensure the sabres of 30th.
Myers and bogo both sucked

It was a pretty close race to last place
That trade was important to lock in mceichel

I'm anti Kane and bogo

Sabres finished last that year, correct? They were hurdled by The Oil as my fastly fading memory recalls.
That was a weird year with AZ breathing down our neck, and Toews making super plays to win thereby helping the Sabres solidify last, barely.

Everyone got their hopes up when they had a decent western trip.......but they are this bad. With that said, EVERY player on the roster should be up for discussion. Even Gretzky was traded, and JE is not WG. Botteril is doing a good job, his blueprint is working....unfortunately though, it means "in three years...."
