Ty Anderson: Bruins push streak to 17; Marchand could face suspension

Just saw the replay. Clearly an intentional elbow. No axe to grind on either team so I’m trying to be objective. This is the reason they need to get rid of the instigator rule. Could you imagine what Scott Stevens would have done to Marchand for that hit? Marchand is such a great little spark plug for the B’s, but he just never learns.

As for the Marchy elbow, I wont defend it. He went for the stuff, then launched himself sideways with his elbow out. He had plenty of room to dive forward and avoid contact. It was dirty and he deserves to be suspended for it. My guess, 2-3 games even though plays like that should be more.

Gotta wonder when they will finally drop a big suspensions on him for these kinds of plays. Its a shame he does this so often because outside of these kinds of plays he really is a fun hockey player to watch.

you could make the argument he's trying to avoid schneider, but he's gotta keep that elbow down. If, say.. Krejci did the same thing, no one would think its that bad, but the little guy has a history..

On the NESN broadcast, they called it a "Vicious flying right elbow" that "If there was any intent he tried to camoflague it" and stated how many times Marchand has been suspsended. Didn't sound like they were trying to defend it, and since they work for the Bruins (who have part ownership of NESN), I don't think they are gonna start crucifying Marchand live on the air. Didn't hear where they defended him though.
