It's almost unbelievable that we have an opportunity to be the 2 seed but so much hockey left it's a dog fight. Has there been any trade chatter around the organization or is it just a stand pat type of year ?

Lost in the ridiculousness of a coach playing Brandon Manning every night and forcing the GM to demote an immensely talented defensive prospect to get him game time, is the curious case of Dale Weise.

Weise played every game between December 4th and January 4th, and the Flyers went 10-3-1. Tonight he will miss his eight straight game as a healthy scratch.

I really don't see how ghoul is an improvement over Weise on the 4th line playing 4 minutes a night. But hak gonna hak

I think it is actually Lehtera getting his spot, where as they seem to be switching Goulbourne and Leier. Of course, that means it is even more puzzling

Watching Lehtera skate is cringe-inducing.

Is the Sanheim demotion going to be addressed in a separate blog?

He's scored less than Leier despite getting 30 minutes of PP time, and has inferior possession numbers.

And does anyone think Lehtera's helping the PK?

I don't think our 4th line who combines for less than 25 minutes a night is really affecting us all that much. Granted I don't understand the decision making it's also nothing I really care about. Leave that top 9 in tact with our young guys getting top 9 minutes and I'm happy

The "athletic" guy Charlie had a great write up on the Sanheim demotion yesterday and really called into question some of the coaching staff's decisions but also pointed out the potential issues that are coming. great read if you subscribe.

Goulbourne is making things happen with his limited ice time. He finishes his checks and competes every shift.

He is an improvement because he provides an element weiss doesn't. It trickles down to other players when they see his hustle instead of the vanilla play of weiss. Maybe he gives the team some more energy. In time maybe he improves and earns more ice time.

He knows why he is on this team right now.

Why does everyone have a facination with arguing over fourth line plugs... PEB CVDV last year... DW, JL, TL, TG this year...

Not sure if Lehtera is helping at all but he has more experience in the league than Leier does and they were using him on the pk when it was terrible so, there's no where to go but up from that point anyway. I don't know if Lehtera was on St Louis's pk when he was with them but, I do notice his positioning is pretty good out there on the pk. I think Hextall is trying to trade Lehtera at the deadline , hence the pk/pp time. Maybe trying to sell him as a decent special teams pickup for a contender
