Vatanen Trade is looking like a genius move by Shero, Taylor Hall is unreal can’t wait to see how he plays with Nico once Nico puts on some weight and gets more comfortable playing at the NHL level

I really liked Zacha's game last night. Deserves the ice time he's getting, and I'm glad he's being rewarded for his efforts.

It won't happen and I'll take heat for it, but I'd absolutely play Coleman and sit Zajac. Not because of the two penalties, either. I wish the staff would rest him on the 2nd of a back-to-back, so they have an excuse. I really don't think this team would miss a beat.

Going to be interesting what Shero does before the trade deadline.

My guess is he does absolutely nothing we’re not a cup contender would be pointless to trade picks for a rental maybe Shero can work some magic and make a trade for a defenseman with some term left I would prefer he wait until the offseason and go after one

Devils biggest asset, IMO, is that they can still take on a bad salary. They have the cap space to sit on it next year and that may hold more value than a b-level prospect. But who knows?

As far as taking on a bad contract, we have even more room when Clowe is done now, but with cap going up so much I don't see any teams dumping salaries and giving up assets to do so. That's the problem in 6-8m jumps in cap space suddenly.

I didn't see 6-8 mil jumps. And I still think it holds value. Teams will still be reluctant to be very close to the cap because then it limits in-season trade ability. Hey, we got Marc Savard from Florida, not a cap team, for a 2nd. There's value there.

Wouldn’t say that yet islanders were playing their 3rd game in 4 nights and Washington was coming off their bye with no practice but then again the 6 game losing streak we had devils should of won 3 or 4 of those games

I guess it is more from $3-7m, I thought the cap was $72 but it's currently $75.

I will say, if the cap only goes up $3, Boston would be the team to look at for trying to dump Belesky... but really if the Devils are filling in a spot for Stafford, that has to be McLeod there, and for Hayes Anderson....

Unless we give up on one of the extras like Coleman, Gibbons, Noesen at that rate, not sure we could even bring in a body.

Need to find space for Q down in Bing also, after this season he should be more than ready, even in a third/fourth line role.

Rangers losing Shattenkirk really hurts them. Wonder if they will fire sale now or add with the associated cap relief

McLeod hasn't even played in AHL yet. That seems like a more logical first step. Same with Anderson.

I meant big picture from stinking from 2013 to this season. Especially after last season. I love Lou Lams but I have to give Ray Ray credit. He’s done a great job and this team is fun to watch.

Agreed, I think Shero has some moves up his sleeve yet. Absorbing cap is absolutely an option. If Karlson is on the Market, throw in Phaneuf (3 years after this) and get the package for a bargain. Personally, I agree that the Devs aren't a cup contender this year, so maybe Mcleod/Zacha/Schneids could be movable assets.... Either way, Shero is in no rush to make any drastic moves at the deadline, but if another team is in a hurry, lets capitalize.
