Mike Augello: Struggling to play “right way”, Leafs lose lead late & fall to Blues in OT

Another lead blown late in the game... Without decent goaltending, we're a bottom feeder the last month...

I don't know if it's what Babcock really wants but the Leafs tried to tighten up in the last 5 minutes and ended up on their heels and off balance again.

They had some stretches in the 3rd where the Leafs were on the puck on the o-zone constantly. That is what we'd want for them to do near the end of a game no? With 2 minutes left icing the puck and allowing the 6th skater on the ice was

Babcock is making leafs games somewhat frustrating for me lately. This mucker on every line, more specifically hyman with 34, is becoming old. Komorov at times being our on ice leader should never happen. Demoting our star sophomores to the 4th line yet leaving kadri line intact, when they have done zilch for 10 games, is puzzling.

Dermott comes up for 2 games, looks great, then he sits. Then comes back with limited ice time paired with POLAK. That Dunn kid looks good, too bad we didn't have a coach that likes talented young promising defenseman.

34 having same pp minutes or less then anyone else on the team and being 149th in league is also mind numbing.

Hes use of the lines is the biggest thing. This "best coach in the world" label that some media outlets give him, is laughable. The guy has one cup on power house teams in Detroit. He has won one round in the last 7 yrs. give me a break

I really wish that he would change the lines, the offense is not clicking right now, they should be trying something different.

Marleau - Matthews - Nylander
JvR - Kadri - Marner
Hyman - Bozak - Brown
Martin - Goat - Komarov.

He usually does change them up during a game if their flat...we held a good team to a goal with an extra attacker...funny team the Leafs...no coach is any good.

that's actually a good mix-up on the lines.
With the defense looking something like:

Rielly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev (when he's back)
Borgman - Dermott.

Tired of Babcock preaching if you do the right things you get rewarded. The players who do the "right" things aren't winning us games - a la promoting hyman/komarov/ Polak. Put optimal line-ups out and see what happens for once.

He has done that yes, but key word is has. Hasn't done it any time recently, and till reverts to old lines at the beginning of each game.

Tarasanko had 2 shots, I'd say that line wasn't too bad. But I agree...especially after 2 whistles (in the last min ) I would have thrown Matthews/Hyman/Brown out there. I had already counted the 2 points at the 1 min mark....my fault guys..I blew it.

Is fire Babcock the theme today?
