Is Hutton taking over starting duties for a while if he continues his stellar play or do you guys think this is temporary?

I HOPE it is temporary Allen is the better goaltender. I don't want to gamble the playoffs on a career backup like Hutton.

The team played horribly in front of Allen before the break.

I would be second guessing as well.

Good game tonight. Big goal by Steen, then what a play by Dunn. Glad to get him back in the lineup.

Yake explained part of it well during the 2nd intermission. It's a snowball thing. Your team plays poor D so you lose confidence in them. You then cheat to try and cover their lapses and get straight by the shooter and they lose confidence in you and you lose confidence in yourself and it can snowball.

Never want to hear that about any player. That's terrible news. On the positive side it happened against the Hawks and not the Blues!

this was supposed to be a reply to the above post about craw ford's possible vertigo situation

Great play by Dunn. He was really trying out there tonight. Some shakey plays but overall a good game. Heck a GREAT game, he netted the ot winner!!

Time to part ways with Sobotka, he seems too slow. Takes too much time to process the game. I think during the time he spent in the khl, the NHL passed him up.

I thought for certain we were going to lose 2-0 while allowing yet another empty net goal. Anger even mentioned the fact the Blues have been terrible with the goalie pulled as of late(hadn't tied a game in how long did they say, 2 years?)

Just glad they pulled this one out. Now onward to Ottawa

Everyone i know has given up on Allen, not sure if i am there yet.

Hutton has been playing great. Remember the last backup to play great for us? Elliot

Great play by Dunn.

I think we've figured out that Jake Allen is not elite. He can play well when the team plays well in front of him. He's not strong enough to cover for bad defensive play in front of him.

How bad does this power play have to get before someone loses their job?

I don't think any goalie plays strong enough to cover for bad defensive play. I mean you might get lucky 2 out of 3 times... He definitely has some mental issues, but what goalie doesn't? Look at Carey Price this year .908 sv% and .484 QS%.

This.

You can make up for it for a game or two. But over a month+ of bad play, you just can't cover that up.

And I agree with Yeo & Jammer. It snowballed with Jake and the team. They need to get out of the rut. IMO, that starts with good play in front of him and Jake will pull through this.

Allen is not the problem at all but he is a part of an overall problem. Whomever runs the powerplay needs to be replaced ASAP

the cog that makes the blues go is Schwartz

Schwartz comes back I think the team will start playing better. I think we are all going to see him as an underpaid player soon if only he could stay healthy

Yes, if he stays healthy he is underpaid.

In the end, he is well paid for playing half a season every other year or so.

I kind of was hoping Allen would play tonight. My guess is he will likely play on Saturday at home, and the home fans have been killing him lately. Last thing you want is to play a bottom of the league team, and a goal given up (regardless of if it is a quality goal or not) and the home crowd booing him or giving Bronx cheers when he makes an easy save.

Playing on the road IMO would be good for him to get his confidence back.
