If I had to guess, I would say that having a "nationally recognized" old media name and current PHWA voting member (I think Duff, Augello, and Meltzer are the only ones on HB) is more important to the powers that be than finding a blogger the fans genuinely appreciate.

Either that, or they realized that the Red Wings blogs get way more hits from people complaining about Duff than they ever did back in the Spizzirri days.

Compare the Vegas blogger, Everybody Sheng Peng tonight. That guy earns his money. He includes opinion, stats, breakdown, some quotes, video. Duff copy and pastes. It's ridiculous. Spiz wasn't even a Wings fan but he at least offered an unbiased opinion of the team. I thought he did a good job. Duff is a joke. He should be ashamed of himself.

You might be right on the latter part. Hockey Buzz employs a few trolls like Tanner and Garf to generate clicks.

The Wings look like a completely different team today. Wings speed is dominating and making the Hawks look slow.

Bertuzzi with his first NHL goal... great for him. Wings win 4-0. Who would have thunk it ? It's too bad Blashill will bring Glendening back in the lineup ASAP. This team doesn't miss him at all.

Loved shutting out the Slackhawks at home.
