Leafs needed the 5 day break. Last few games they were running on fumes. Had they received a 3 day break from the road trip before meeting the Lightning, I think we would have seen a better result.

I see NO point in the Leafs giving up anything for this years playoffs. What’s the point in getting eliminated in the second round instead of the first round, and losing prospects or picks for it!? I say trade Komorov, and Van Reimsdyke and Bozak for young players that put you in contention in a year or two or three. It’s an easy question, do you want second round now, or chance to win it all in the near future!?

I read on TSN that some GM also thought they should trade bozak jvr komarov and gardiner maybe (?). He felt they could take the future back and get some big help for the defense at the draft.

They won't do this of course but I don't hate the idea either.

I guess you never know what happens if you make the playoffs and there is some value in the playoff experience and fostering a winning culture.

One thing to consider is, is it an easy question of "do you want second round now, or chance to win it all in the near future!"?

No rentals. Not worth it yet. Trade all pending UFAs for younger players and prospects. The only team that should be a buyer in our division is Tampa Bay and maybe Boston.
