Wishing you guys luck.......after tonight.

They fired the coach that had them playing well and that the players loved playing for. Rowe killed the teams' morale and basically derailed everything that had been building here. The moves made this summer while searching for the new coach seemed to indicate they were looking more toward next season than this one. They have been learning to play for a new coach with new systems and it's taken awhile for it to come together. They've been very "Jekyll & Hyde" so far, but have been much better for the last month or so. One thing I've noticed that seems to coincide with their improvement is that they are playing more as a team, and may be regaining some of the confidence that was dashed last season.

Hey Dale get off your ass and make this deal. Petrovic/McCoshen or Pysak for Jack Johnson and give him a 5/5.5 contract.

We both know this organization accepts mediocrity, the media accepts it, the fans accept it.

I don't know if it's fair to say the organization accepts mediocrity under the newest owners, although they definitely are the first since the team moved to Sunrise who seem unwilling to accept it. Viola and Cifu made some incredibly stupid decisions last year, and set the team back a couple of years, but they made the mistakes out of arrogance more than their willingness to accept mediocrity.
If the fans accepted mediocrity the building would be more full on a regular basis.

Why would you trade one of those young and developing dmen (especially McCoshen) for a 31 yr old Johnson? And then sign him for five more years @ 5.5? I know CBJ have a good defense, but he's not cutting it there. Is he going to suddenly improve as he approaches 35?

Fun game in Sunrise tonight as the Panthers beat Vegas 4-3 in OT. Vegas came back from a goal down three times in the game. Ekblad with the GWG in OT. Barkov scored another shorthanded goal and added two assists.
Panthers held a pregame ceremony to honor team founder Wayne Huizenga. The venerable Bill Torrey was there to speak about Mr Huizenga & the beginning of the franchise.
The team showed some class and paid respect to Gerard Gallant with a video tribute during a TV timeout. He will always be loved in South Florida.

You couldn't be more wrong about the current ownership. They lied to the fans. They said they would spend and money wouldn't be an issue and going into this year they salary dumped and totally lied to the fan base. They are a disgrace, they fired one of the best coaches in the NHL for no reason at all. Showed how classless they are with the way they handled that.

They chose to keep Bjugstad over Marchassult. That right there proves their ineptitude. I'm sorry but they accept mediocrity and it couldn't be any clearer.

Yes, firing Gallant was idiotic and can never be considered a wise move. I think giving Vegas Marchy was the price to get them to take Smith and his 5yr/$25 million contract. After the year Smith had last year no one seemed interested in trading for him, and they were afraid of being stuck with that big contract (which Tom Rowe gave him). All other previous owners would've never extended Barkov, or Trocheck, or Huberdeau etc...they would've been traded for draft picks and has-beens when their deals were up. They extended Ekblad for crazy money and signed Yandle to a ridiculous contract. That's where their arrogance came in, they assumed last year was going to be full houses and a deep playoff run. When that revenue didn't materialize they had to scale back some. Even so, they have committed more money to try to build a winner than any previous owner ever even considered doing. They've made some big mistakes, and they have a lot of work to do to regain the trust they had built over their first few years of ownership, but lost with last year's stupidity.
And firing Gallant was the result of a pissing contest with Elmer Fudd Rowe. Gallant didn't like that Rowe traded Guddy. GG said publicly that we need to be bigger and tougher to play against, so Rowe traded Kampfer (who Gallant wanted as his seventh D) to NY for a useless plug who was "big and tough". Gallant wanted the gritty Logan Shaw called up, so Rowe traded him to Ducks for soft Sgarbossa. Viola & Cifu's biggest mistake was ever hiring Rowe to begin with, and then choosing him over Gallant, when they should've called a cab for Rowe.
