I always hated Neil. Absolutely hated him.

Damn, I would have loved him on the Leafs.

I thought the team showed pretty good play over the whole game. As you say, wasn’t perfect, but got the job done. Andy made some key saves to prevent any deflating moments from occurring.

Thought Ryan, Stone, and Duchene looked good. Ryan hasn’t had a release like he did on his goal in quite sometime.

It’s exciting that the Alumni game in on parliament hill. Still not 100% sure how the NHL couldn’t make the outdoor game work there, but here we are. Should be a terrible game on Saturday, but all outdoor games are, so it could go either way.

I don't think Karlsson will get more than McDavid. Honestly. He wants to be in Ottawa - his wife is here, his entire adult life was here. He hasn't lived anywhere else. I think Alfie being back here, and others, it's going to be better for him to stay here. That said, he'll set a precedent for D-men. I think 10.5m is a starting point but 11.5 per is VERY fair (especially for 8 year term)

They have to sign in Ottawa. You have to create 3 & 5 year deals; what is the contract you draw up that makes both GM & agent/player happy?

Scoring dropped off but IMO can still hit 18-20g, 50p when healthy

Dion Phaneuf - 3 years @5.25m
Not same D-man in past; but solid top 4D-man with physicality

Melnyk should have sold a few years ago when his financial issues started. Things have just gotten progressively more muddied since then.

No. Pub, friends, beer, food, lots of tvs, and pretty waitresses is the way to go. For a fraction of the cost.

He may have Liquid cash issues, but that typically is how the medical industry works... Spend lots of money and be short on liquid cash for a few years and then get a huge pay out once the meds hit the market.

Since then, why the frank would I want to go? Pay premium prices to go watch a game in the freezing cold, when I will barely be able to actually see the puck.

There's different degrees of wealthy. Yeah he has more money than any of us, but running a hockey team is expensive. Didn't Melnyk's shares in Biovail tank wildly, like 90+% wise?

yeah...I almost sold them...habs friends of mine were so discouraged with how their season was going a little over a month ago that they told me that they weren't buying them...so I sold that pair for close to twice the price I paid so my tickets are almost free...
I almost sold mine 2 weeks ago with how the Sens were playing but I figured it's a one-time opportunity to get to experience it and almost free to boot!

I’ve just never found the allure of a hockey game on a football field. All views will be absolute garbage. While it’s a little better on a baseball field, it’s still garbage viewing. Why shell out 3 times the price for worse hockey and freeze your nads off?

The possibility of a “pop-up” arena on Parliament Hill was intriguing, but I guess the logistics just didn’t add up so you have to go with the unoriginal football field hockey game.

They really have to put an end to these things, but alas, it’s all about the Benjamin’s. I’d just have the All-Star game outside and be done with it.
