4 in a row against a sleeper team and I have tickets to the game. BTW Partial season ticket Black plan hasn't seen a win all season. Omens.

Big game tonight. Can't have a let down against the Sabres. Plus need to keep gaining points. With no one really distancing themselves from the pack you get a on little win streak and someone drops a few your right there.

It’s too early to count points for playoffs it’s december for Christ’s sake. They need to put their head down and keeping playing with this effort. Seems like they are getting roles situated.

We haven't started playing the metro yet and only 4 points out? Things should/could be a whole lot worse.

Need to be within 4 points at Christmas break. It's actually a valid measuring stick for teams that make the playoffs.

From The Hockey News, Top 10 trades of 2017:

3. Blues trade Jori Lehtera, a 2017 first-round pick (Morgan Frost) and a 2018 conditional first-round pick to Flyers for Brayden Schenn

Oh boy. Maybe Flyers GM Ron Hextall has behaved so conservatively in his tenure because when he does emerge from his hole to make a trade, he gets pillaged like he did here. There’s just no justifying Philly’s return for this one. It was an iffy trade the day it happened, with the Blues quickly announcing they’d give Schenn a crack at a scoring-line center role, and it has since become the steal of the year. Schenn has been the NHL’s top power forward this season, period. He already has six game-winning goals and is in contention for the league scoring crown and Hart Trophy. He’s finally realizing the potential he showed as a superstar junior player in the WHL, and it hasn’t seemed to matter which wingers he’s played with between Vladimir Tarasenko, Jaden Schwartz and Alexander Steen.

He'll trend back to normal. Wasn't he a streaky scorer here? And if any Blue wins the Hart it would be Vlady.

Great for him.

There will always be two sides to a trade. Right now the Blues look like the winners. But this trade still has parts to play out.

A lot of us knew it would hurt early.

I think they should give Brayden Schenn the 20 game Hart Trophy.

If the trade motivated Schenn, good for him. He wasn't doing any of this here and I don't think it was a lack of patience on the part of the Flyers.

The Blues are a better team, with a better surrounding cast, so, it's not beyond the pale to think he would benefit from that.

It's funny that places like to jump on the hot take train and declare the Schenn trade a big swing and a miss for the Flyers: Buccigross, Hockeynews, etc.

Meanwhile Frost put up 2 goals yesterday and Bill referenced in a tweet that Hextall called his hockey sense elite..

If the Flyers hit on the next 1st round pick when we view this trade in 10 years it's a good chance it does look like a trade with a clear winner.... the good guys.

Adios muchacho!

But for those still pining for him, here's H&O's famous Schenn's Gone to ease the pain a little.

Pretty much how I see it. This trade really can't be judged for at least 3 or 4 years. There are just so many variables:

Does Schenn's play trail off later this season?
Does Schenn continue this level of success for multiple seasons?
Does Frost turn into a solid NHLer, or perhaps a star player?
What do the Flyers get or do with the other first?

Any idiot can look at the deal now and say it's great for the Blues, but I'm pretty sure Hextall wasn't looking at 17-18 or even 18-19 when this deal was made. If he doesn't expect the Flyers to contend before 2020, the deal makes sense and it's a good deal for both teams.

Read should be on the roster and playing instead of Weise some nights, and Lehtera should be on the Phantoms.
