Try:

Two 2018 1sts, 2018 2nd, Anthony Beauvillier, Devon Toews or Ryan Pulock

I would stay the course and keep the picks, especially the two first-round picks.

Not nearly enough. Plus how the hell could we ever afford him and keep JT?

I don't think it would be that difficult to keep the two of them. It would be expensive, but it wouldn't be impossible.

I doubt he'll ever be here, so it's probably a moot point.

Ceci seems to be available also. I'd go after him instead. He's cheaper and younger...

I would imagine that they'd want to hang onto all the defensemen they can if they are going to lose Karlsson. I think we'd have to look elsewhere for help.

I would expect that they absolutely have to address the defense in the offseason. de Haan is probably gone and they can't have Leddy/Boychuk and then a bunch of rookies/young guys that aren't that good.

Nice job Dan and Noel! I agree Toews should be up if he can play. Forget the one way contracts. Karlsson would be great, but I cannot see happening.

I agree. I do not give big money to de Haan. Doug has to address the defensive system in the meantime because it's not a good idea on waiting for Garth to trade for a top 4 dman during the season. Guys like Pulock and Mayfield should play all the time and forget Hickey and Seidenberg.

The problem is (and I don't even know where I stand on it) is that we're likely to overpay for a UFA to fill that hole. Do we overpay for de Haan? Or overpay for a UFA?

Impact defenseman that aren't old/aging cost a major premium via trade, I'm not so sure we land one that way.

I think we go the trade route with someone like Trouba in the offseason. Isles have the pieces to make a deal. Isles have Leddy and you trade for another top 4 and you build around them along with Toews and Aho.

before you start getting too excited bout Toew and Aho on islanders its worth noting that Soundtigers are 12-10 this season. I would exactly be saying our guy are dominating down there.

It's possible, in the offseason.

Something like Nelson++ for Trouba could work. Nelson and Trouba are both arb-eligible RFA's. Obviously Trouba is a much younger right-shot defenseman and way more valuable, but I can see us being able to slap together a package that might make WPG jump.

Something like the lesser of the two 1st round picks, Nelson, and one of Beauvillier/Ho-Sang/Bellows/another prospect or young player.

Good point Chief, you know what you have in de Haan. Tough call, but I guess it depends on who's available as UFA, which I don't know at this point.

Edit:That said, I would like to see snow address the D this year if possible.

Why would anyone judge individual prospects based on the entire team's record?

a friend of mine made a valid point. I would just send Beauvillier down to bridge for a good 20 games. Let me play top line mins and get his confidence up.

I hate seeing a kid with good speed grit just being so inconsistent on a night be night basis.

Trouba wants to play in the states so the Jets almost have to deal him in the offseason. Trouba should not cost a ton in assets like other dmen will. I love adding Nelson in the deal because I'm done with him and the Isles save money letting de Haan walk as well. I just do not like the Isles chances in UFA and those signing rarely work out.

im saying if you top 1-2 dman in bridgeport are doing that well, it should be somewhat more reflected in team record.

Also is anyone else starting to get annoyed that tavares is just invisible for the last 5-6 games. I mean he got owned by McAvoy who is a rookie in that loss saturday night.

Is it me or does he look slow? If he looks slow now, im wondering what he will look like in year 5-8 of next contract

Bridgeport does not seem to have the forward prospects or goalie prospects on the level of Toews and Aho. I would not judge them based on the record of the team.

JT does concern me at times and seems to go into a funk. JT will never be know for his skating. I still do everything I can to sign him.

It would be insanely tough with how much we pay CC, and CC. Plus If they want to re-sign Bailey it's not going to happen.
