That's a strangely dumb looking lineup. What's Bednar smoking up there?

My guess is:

1 - they aren't sure Nemeth is ready for full-time defense minutes, esp. if one of the other five are injured, ejected or in the penalty box for an extended amount of time, so they want an extra defenseman just in case.

2 - Bednar is sending a message that he's willing to bench people even if it means he has to play seven defensemen.
