Maybe there's a case for letting a player over develop in the minors like Janko. Even if you think he was there too long, it hasn't hurt him. Bennett and Lazar on the other hand... That 3rd line should start scoring more based on how they're playing. And if the 2nd pairing can find their game, Calgary could be legit contenders in the west. |

What are you even talking about? How exactly was Jankowski overdeveloped? He wasn't ready to jump to the NHL straight out of college and spent a year in the AHL. Bennett was ready for the NHL when he started. He looked great in the playoffs and had a really good first full season. He didn't look out of place at all.
It's also still way too early to make a judgement either way on how effective Jankowski's development was.

I would be for bringing up Hathaway and Mange. Sit Bennett and Brouwer for a game to see if they can find a spark.
I know Bennett is young, but he has been given a pretty long leash and a bit go tough love is not a bad thing. |

5+ years after he was drafted he was still in the minors. The Flames let him play all 4 years of NCAA, which is unusual for a top prospect, then they kept him in the minors well after he was an all star, then they kept him there after he clearly made the Flames this training camp. They certainly kept him there longer than many other organizations would have. That's what I'm talking about.
Bennett was rushed IMO, he should have been in the minors even though he had one good series (as a winger). As a centre, which is where they want him to play, he hasn't had much success. |

As for Janko, i'm actually making the case that letting him over develop was a good thing. |

Most players who go the college route stay for three or four years, and Jankowski clearly wasn't ready to play in the NHL before this year. He also had a pretty underwhelming college career for a top prospect.
It was always known that Jankowski was going to need time to develop. Bennett was NHL ready at 18. |

So whose the best player on the Flames. I think it's obvious but apparently it's not. Let's hear it. |

2) I'm running out of ways to describe Johnny Gaudreau. The guy is just incredible. Each and every night there are a couple plays, or sequences, where he wows you and for a second you're stunned, then you remember you're watching Johnny Gaudreau play hockey and it seems normal again. It took him five minutes to extend his point-streak to 10 games and he added an assist on the eventual game-winner just for good measure. The 24-year-old is up to 31 points in 20 games and is legitimately playing [b]Hart Trophy-caliber hockey right now. |

Ok bud,
Smith was easily our MVP early on in the year, we were winning games we had no business winning. Nobody was trying to argue that Smith is a better player than Johnny , Smith was just a bigger factor in our early wins.
On a related note: Haven't heard much from the "Johnny can't play on the road" crew lately :D There might be a day when it makes sense to talk about trading Johnny, but for now we just need to sit back and enjoy watching this kid play |

I have to respectfully disagree with you. That 3rd line has been dangerous & getting chances, yeah they aren't converting them. So what? Why would you sit Bennett for Hathaway???? & Mangi just isnt ready yet, his time will be next year. If the 3rd line was getting caved in the whole game then Ok, but they look fine, sometimes you just have to wait for the seeds to grow. I see sprouts on that 3rd line. Janko & Benny are just starting to get used to each other & we have won 7 of the last 9 games, why the need for such a change? Versteeg Hamilton/Lazar & Brouwer are fine for the 4th line. |
