Peter Tessier: Jets Exorcise Devils but at a cost It didn't take long for the scoring to happen once it did but despite the win the Jets suffered a loss with Engstrom's injury.

Tobi is quitely having a good year but with the leftside depth Chevy has smartly accumulated this offseason we shouldn't miss a beat. Chariot will fill in nicely and Poolman with time will adjust to the leftside and be the better option of the two.

I don’t think this is a large loss at all....
Enstrom is apparently playing on knees that are almost shot and he really has been manhandled this year. He’d be useless if we keep going and make the playoffs.
Jets have the assets to land a LHD and let Poolman play 20 mins in the AHL.
I would look to Vegas for McNabb or even Theodore if we want to be bold.

If we go after Theodore, which we should, it has to be Kulikov going the other way from our blueline. The Jets would never let Toby play anywhere else, and there wasn’t a single left handed FA option available this season that could replace his defensive contributions. Kulikov and Myers are the biggest issues the Jets have right now, and Kulikov is likely unmovable. Myers+ for Klefbom is better, as Chiarelli is really stupid and Edmonton is turning on all its star players.

I agree with Peter that Myers did make some bonehead plays in the last game and I have seen a pattern of this over and over. There were more than several times in the NJD win where I saw Myers get the puck near the corners behind our goal-line and have more than enough time to have a quick look and make the right play. You could clearly see several options for the correct play/pass. Yet ever time he panicked and tried to rifle it off the boards and every time the NJD players read it , pinched the boards and kept it inside the blue-line. Making a play under pressure is not one of Myers best attributes.

That all being said he does a good job of rushing the puck with the big reach of his. The PP unit he quarterbacks seems to have more zone time than our #1 PP unit. His long reach is useful on defence and on the PK. All-in-all its not the tire fire some suggest. I rate Kulikov about the same as Myers. They definitely should be third pairing but overall vs most third pairings in the league I think they are one of the better ones. I'd say they would be a top 6 NHL third pairing but a bottom 10 NHL second pairing if that makes any sense.

I'll also add the comment here that I think everyone in the Peg is drooling over Roslovic and his potential . Some want to see him on the Jets ASAP. I also think he has huge potential but I think that one more year in the AHL will be huge for his development. He's become a real leader for the Moose. There is also no room for him on the Jets barring an injury. He's young. I don't foresee Copp here next year . Hendricks will likely be done. Matthais wont be resigned. Thats three listed centers that will be gone or traded. Next year Roslovic will be a Jet for good.

Finally, I know its early to start talking about this but based on their play it looks pretty good for the Jets to grab a playoff spot this year. There is one free agent rental that is leaps and bounds above any other ...John Tavares. I doubt the Islanders make the playoffs. What team has the cap room to grab him .....definitely Winnipeg is one of them. What team has the extra talent in the farm system and draft picks that we likely dont need.....Winnipeg. What team can most surely win the cup with Tavares centering Laine and Ehlers and have Perrault and Little on the third line......Winnipeg. Its early but I'm already drooling at the thought.

There were lots of scouts at the game so a trade might be in the future. This Enstrom injury could be beneficial for the jets, as they can win without him and see what their depth charts have going forward.

Mostly blacked-out games in my area. Shame too. Jets one of the most entertaining teams to watch.

And, as a Fantasy player, one of the best fantasy teams around.

Buffer on my keeper team. Wheeler, Scheiffle, Laine, all solid fantasy guys.

Now, Hellynbuk (or however you spell him) becoming a fantasy gem as well.

Just don't take a Blackhawk playoff spot please....room enough for BOTH of us!

was at the game and enjoyed every minute ... strong strong showing by our beloved Jets
.
Enstrom out and either Poolman or Chariot in - we'll be fine
.
Funny to think - that 3 goal / 95 second outburst used to happen AGAINST US ... now it happens FOR US
.
These 4 road games represent another HUGE test for us ... if we post at least 5 of 8 pts I'll give the Jets an "A"
.
Yes - we now have the assets to upgrade without losing ... 2nd/3rd line centre and/or strong producing winger ... may be a bit early in the season to pull the trigger ... stay tuned

A lot of people still are, just not here. Dano is a wasted asset right now, and Petan is piling up points in the A. Petan might actually be better off this way as he’s hitched himself to Roslovic.

One thing that surprises me is that no one is mentioning the play of Armia. The guys has shown that when he is consistently paired with an offensive threat, he can make plays. It makes me wonder about Matthias and all of his opportunities. He was getting tones of opportunities as a result of playing with Armia.

It also got me thinking of perhaps pairing Armia up with either Laine or Ehlers. Both guys like to shoot and Armia is a great passer.

Dude you are dreaming about Tavares. First off he is not going anywhere while the Isles are in the playoff hunt. They just whooped the Lightning. That team is in win now mode and will be adding at the deadline not subtracting.
Secondly Ownership and management will throw everything at Tavares to resign him this offseason. You think Snow has handing out crazy contracts in the past? Wait and see what he will be doing to keep Taveres an Islander for life.

I don't think you are thinking quite straight on the Tavares possibilities. Isles are hanging on to a wild card right now by one point over the Dushcene improved Senators. Its highly possibly they will not make the playoffs. They will not sign him during the season . If you were the GM you would wait because if it comes down to trade deadline time and the Isles are a few points out of the picture then he is worth some real value to the team as a rental. Why throw away that ? If he want to stay then sign him back after the season. Near the trade deadline Tavares is worth a first round pick, a third or fourth line player, and a prospect. The Isles also get to off about 25 % of his salary. The Jets can afford him cap wise and can also afford to give up those demands . It would cost them something like Armia, Petan, and a first (likely around 26th or so) . I'd do that deal to win the cup.

I won't belabour the point but Petan's AHL performance to date has been underwhelming. He has 7 Moose players with more points per game ahead of him. Roslovic, Scarbossa, Appleton, Robinson, Lemeiux, Niku, and Schilling. I don't think 7 points in 11 games on the top line is "lighting up the AHL" or "piling up the points in the A" when its only 8th best production on the Moose. I'm not saying he is not capable of doing better because I believe he is . I am saying that there are some smart hockey fans on here so please don't insult our intelligence with gross exaggerations.

Edit: Also for you Dano fans. I believe you will finally get to see him play again in San Jose on the second night of the back-to-back. Envision him as the knight in Monty Python thats " not quite dead yet".

Lol you say they are a point away from being out of the playoffs and I say they are a point away from 1st in their division. Guess what we are both right.
