I agree they can't let in two in the last five minutes even with a five goal lead...lesson half learned? Perhaps. Maybe not.
Pekka's usual greatness? Perhaps. Maybe not. Games one and two this year for him. Not so great. Then his lights out streak... until four games ago. Then three in a row with 12 total goals against (plus an ENG). I know he isn't the only D out there. But usual greatness would see him stop something when the Preds world is collapsing on a nightly basis.
Then last night, the Avs had two wide open, close chances they whiffed on. And in the third there was a shot that Peks stopped only to see it deflect into the blue paint and bounce there. One Av skated by and another arrived a moment too late.
Some recent conversations amongst my fellow fans has centered on his performances. He plays out of this world, occasionally out of this galaxy until...the first goal (sometimes an early first goal isn't a problem). Then he becomes uneven, uncertain, shaken, average. Even last night up 5-0. When it became 5-1 he fought the puck, he roamed, he made easy stops difficult. We were waiting for the goal to make it 5-3 and wondered what would happen next. He bails the D out...ALOT. Time for them to remember it's a 60 minute game and return the favor. |
