Knew last season was just a downer for him. But hey, guess Chia needed extra money to re-sign Russell.... even though there was no need for any extra money...... since we had enough even if Chi wanted to resign Russell...

McDavid isn't looking good either...

And McD needs to be better. His point totals are all fine and dandy but he's been making poor decisions a bunch lately (both on offense and defense). He's going through a phase where he'll have to work to reinvent himself a bit. Really focusing on becoming a shooting threat like earlier in the year would help.

McDavid has been a complete idiot this game.

Didn't backcheck on the first goal

Turned it over on the second goal

made a horrible pass on the 2 on 1

turned it over again and took a penalty.

The anticipation is killing me. Maybe we should count our blessings that Chia might not be motivated to sell the future for a few months of David (frank)ing Perron or James Neal.

The team is in that unfortunate place where they can't score enough to allow their goalie any breathing room for mistakes and when Talbot is even slightly off his game, it makes the rest of the team tighten up for fear of making a mistake that'll lead to an easy goal. It's kinda like back when we were a perennial bottom feeder.

As much as I don't think I'd say its entirely a coaching issue, I think that hammer might have to fall this year. We've seen it for a couple years now that his systems are behind the times in a number of areas and the players seem to not even be able to execute them anymore because teams are working to counter their weak breakout strategy and a complete lack of line matching. For all his positives, McLellan is not good at adapting.
