I brought it up shortly after the Duchene trade that I don’t think Dorion is done. Completely agree with Jared in that Dzingle and Smith aren’t 2nd line options. The fact we were able to keep White, Brown, and Chabot, along with most of our 2nd tier prospects, really gives the team flexibility to go out and get some rentals for a run. Depending on how some teams do the following forwards may work nice in Ottawa:

Rick Nash, Evander Kane, James Neal, David Perron, Joel Ward, Chris Kunitz. Then there are a few other guys that might add depth.

Not sure if the defence would need some insulation, but there are several decent names that may be available.

Will be nice to see how Duchene responds in his first game at home. I’m predicting a big game.

Agreed with the above names. Would be a little considered about Kane (more from a behavioral aspect and how it may impact team- but that's only if you buy into it), but Neal would be incredible.

I don't think Ward is a top 6- more like a really good 3rd liner.

I'm not sure Nash has much left in the tank, but could probably be had for cheap. I liken him to another two options- Vanek and Kulemin- both of whom play the left side.

Given TB's success, I don't think Kunitz is going anywhere.

Just imagine though:

Neal - Duchene - Ryan
Hoffman - Brass - Stone
Smith - Pageau - Dzingel
Pyatt- Thompson - Burrows

An argument could also be made that maybe White slides into that top 6 spot once he's fully healed. Hard to say, but he seems to be doing well in Belleville. Good signs anyways, and is a pretty easy back-up plan shall they miss out on acquiring another top 6 rental to send them over the top

Ya. It's really dependent on how teams do. Neal would be my guy as well, but if Las Vegas keeps playing respectably well, they'd be smart to hold onto him. The flip side of that, he's probably one of the more attractive rentals available making him pricey to acquire in all likihood.

I've always liked Nash, so I'm a bit bias. I think he could be similar to what Ryan is in this lineup.

Kane is a wldcard, bu you'll always have the Murray connection, so it's possible.

I don't think the Sens will add anything until the deadline for salary purposes, but I wouldn't be shocked if they added a decent name on trade deadline day.

Agreed. Dzingle and Smith are pretty quintessential third liners in my opinion. I like them in that role, but they shouldn't be in the top 6 unless their filling in for someone who's out, which they do adequately, for what it's worth.

Kane and Neal would both cost a fair amount. I think when any deal is done they go for someone who costs a little less, they're all out of picks pretty much.

Agree with your comments Gord, Jordo, 22....

makes sense for Sens to make one more move for a forward.
Logan Brown and Colin White aren't ready yet and probably won't be big enough factors until 2019 playoffs (right before Karlsson, Duchene are UFA)

Can we please go and get Nicklas Hjmarlsson from Arizona

He's been a SOLID D-man in Chicago and would be the perfect fit with Karlsson on the top pair. Not to mention that he's won cups with Sens. Easily do Ceci + for him and the deal would make sense

Hjmarlsson - Karlsson
Phanuef - Chabot
Borowieci - Claesson

I think SOME people laughed at my idea to trade Ryan for Brown (think this was a possibility in the summer - or maybe that was Phaneuf that Dorion was trying to move for) That would have meant methot stayed and we would have 2x7m off the cap starting after next season.

Right now - after summer of 2019 - we have Ryan, Phaneuf, Hoffman, Smith, & Pageau on the books

I think Duchene is going to have a big night tonight, I think his chemistry with Hoffman was good and will only get better (not sure why they aren't pairing them up again), I also think adding Ryan in there will be awesome.

Out of the players you listed, Rick Nash, Evander Kane, James Neal, David Perron, Joel Ward, Chris Kunitz.

The only two I'd want would be Neal or Kane. All the other ones would be rentals and I'm not a big fan of getting rentals. I'd rather players to build a team around.
